So yesterday I had a painful outpatient encounter and didn't realize I bumped the hazard lights button when I got home.

Long story short, wife got home 6 hours later and asked about the hazards, I cussed!

She tried it and no go so I hobbled out in the snow and disassembled the cargo floor and attached a microprocessor controlled charger.

Hours later I disco'd it and turned it on. Dash lights lit but no start and had hold the start button to get it to turn off.

This is our 5th Prii so I'm no rookie but I called local Toyota for battery price. Told them 2012 v five with AT and she said she needed vin number to see which battery but it's "$200 is for the battery and $120 installation. When can I drive it in"

I asked if they use a condom and lube since batteries plus and AutoZone would install for free if I had it towed either place.

When I replaced 12v batteries in our second gens no worries but when their 12v died nothing would turn on.

Any reason for me to be concerned with the car sort of turning on after charging? Is it possible a fuse blew? Thanks in advance.

A variation of this OEM 12V battery depletion happened to our 2012 v Five (no ATP) several winters ago. Recharging then Reconditioning the 12V battery with a CTEK 7002 Smart Charger did the trick without issue.

Couldn't you have connected the charger to the jump points under the hood? They should have been easier to get at than disassembling the cargo area.

Durka! I guess it was a combination of pain meds and being furious with myself!

I used to say I have a good memory, but it;s short. Sometimes I am unsure of the "good memory" part.
    Hindsight is 20/20 anyway.

Sounds like the 12v wasn't done charging, I'd have unhooked the positive cable for the charge, and now, I'd let it trickle charge overnight anyway.
