DetNews: 40 mpg claims grab headlines, miss mark

    I wasn't expressing an opinion which car is superior. My point was only that so long as, e.g., a car manufacturer gives information with appropriate context I am OK with their advertising.

    If GM recorded a commercial happily boasting that every one of their trucks gets over 100 mpg while going down the Swiss Alps, I would not have an axe to grind with the advert. If, however, the voice-over says 100 MPG!!! while a font too small and transparent to read flashes for one frame with the text "going down the Swiss Alps," I'd view that as deceitful advertising.
