Did the US Prius get blue chromed headlights

Mine has blue chrome trim around the outer edge of the headlight housing. It is very faint. Is this what you are referring to?

 

Tideland has a post in the Plug-in forum where he pointed out that the 2010-2011 models all had the blue tinted headlights. In 2012, the blue tinted headlights are only on the Plug-in model.

But in comparing (just a quick visual), I think the 2012 PiP's blue is a bit darker or more prominent. But I don't know for sure.

 

I don't remember if this applies to the lower trims, but on my Five, the LED headlight housings are very slightly blue-tinted (which makes the LED headlights look bluer than they actually are). The parking light housings, in contrast, aren't. It's also part of the reason why it's difficult to find matching parking light bulbs for the LED headlights, at least on the 2010-11 Fives.

 

Seen a 2012 Plug-in with blue-tinted LED head lights roughly 3 days ago. The blue reminded me of the Insight head lights; it really sticks out.

 

I have a 2012 Adv Pip and the headlights definitely have a noticeable blue tint to them. Hard to tell if its the lens or the interior chrome.

 

I saw a newer RX Hybrid and it had the deep blue accent coloring to the headlights. I haven't seen a '10-'12 Prius with the same deep blue accent colors.

 

The 2010-11 headlights aren't this same deep blue. They're only very slightly blue tinted. I have no idea if the 2012 Adv PiP retains the same blue tint found on the '10-'11 headlights or has a more noticeable blue tint to them.

 

Here's a picture of a Plug-in headlight.. the chrome is definitely blueish.. but like bielinsk said, its hard to tell if the plastic housing is blueish too.. but I kind of think it is blue too

I haven't seen it in person, but the chrome looks bluer compared to the 2010-11 headlights. The parking light housing is also blue, unlike on the 2010-11.

I prefer the three round designs of the 2010-11 Five LED headlights compared to the two round and 1 square design found on the 2012 Five and Adv PiP. The former flows much better than the latter.

 

The chrome is definitely more blue on the 2012 PiP. The 10-11 is more of a light/baby blue.

 

Looks like the blue is only on the chrome. I'll probably use the blue as a reference when I black out my head lights.

 

Yes, the 2010-11 is that same light blue color. How did you acquire that JDM headlight?

 

So why not get the JDM unit for the other side and use them? They look better without the orange reflectors.
