I have noticed many things in the manual that I'd love to discover in the car, but don't know where to look! A couple of examples:

    1) the manual notes that I can configure the criteria for the 3 route choices, but I can't find that option. Specifically I am supposed to be able to choose "ecological" route for one of the options. That is unexplained, incidentally.

    2) The electronics are supposed to allow displaying and potential replying to of text msgs (SMS) but I have been unable to find these as well. I have the so-called "enhanced" package.

    Any ideas appreciated!

The messaging option shows up on the phone screen if your phone is compatible. It does require that your cell phone support the MAP Bluetooth profile.

My cell phone supports MAP as well as the car sees it in the bluetooth profile, yet it doesn't work.

The cars lighting is supposed to light up as you approach the car at night with the key on you, I can't seem to get that to work.

So you just walk up to the car and you notice the light will go on? Is this only at night when its dark out?

I want to make sure I am testing correctly. I wonder if the dealer turned this off when I had them adjust the backup beep.

yes, only noticed it at night, im sure the sensor keeps the lights off during lighted hrs. Im sure it only works when lights are turned to 'door' setting also physically.

Yes you should be able to walk up to the car and the interior lights come on, day or night.
It must have been turned off by you dealer, the default is on.

    1) With Display Nav unit:
choose 'Options', then choose 'Route Options For Current Route'

    With HDD
    choose 'Route', then 'Route options'

    2) Doesn't work yet with iPhone, other devices, maybe?

This may be different in the Display Audio option, but in the Advanced, you have have to go to Bluetooth options and turn on message download. With my Blackberry, the messaging screen on the car has tabs for the various e-mail boxes I have configured, along with one for SMS. It can be configured to automatically offer to read new messages as well as display them. As noted, Apple does not support the MAP protocol, but all Blackberries and some Androids do.

Yes, I did that, and it does download my messages and they are listed there. That doesn't really help me a lot though.

I was hoping that if I received a text while driving, it would popup on the screen and I could respond with one of the 30 automated responses.

I have the advanced nav with a Samsung Galaxy S2 which is MAP capable.

I was told that I have HDD nav, but the only route options are toll roads, highways, etc. Certainly no "ecological" route choice! Darn!
