    Compiling differences between PP years. Pls review below and provide any additions, corrections, etc. Need help with last one. TIA.

    ENGINE OIL FILTER: early 2017s cartridge, later 2017-current spin on
    ENGINE OIL: 2017-19 0W20, 2020-current 0W16
    AVGMPG DISPLAY: 2017s maxed at 199.9, 2018-current max at 999.9
    TRIMS/GRADES: 2017-19 Plus, Premium, Advanced. 2020-current LE, XLE, Limited
    SAFETY: 2017-20 Toyota Safety Sense-P. 2021-current Toyota Safety Sense 2.0
    SEATING: 2017-19 4 seats, 2020-current 5 seats

    Sometime after 2018 Supersonic Red replaced Hypersonic Red in the US at
    least. The paint code did not change only the name.

    According to @Elektroingenieur there have been three different parts listed for the driver side door switch panel.

    I don't remember my 2017 model, but my 2020 model had all buttons illuminated. The OEM switch 84040-47090 MSRP $542.35, whereas, for my current 2021 model and I presume applies to 2022 model as well use the OEM switch 84040-48210 MSRP $238.94 which does not illuminate. Yep, $303.41 saving for Toyota for newer models.

    I don't miss it. I did not even know it was lit on my 2020 PP until I read the thread on it. I don't drive at night often. Even if I drive at night, I never look at the door switch to open the door or window.

    The driver’s side window switches are illuminated on my 2018. Might’ve been removed for 2020 or 2021.

    The driver’s side power seat controls had silver trims on 2017 models but were removed for 2018.

    The base of the A pillar and the B pillar were piano black finishes on 2017-2020 models. 2021 swapped them to matte black (same as regular Prius).

    The interior door frames were covered in plastic for 2017-2019. They were removed in 2020+ so you can see the body paint colour. (And because of the angle of the interior door/window frame, you can see that exposed painted frame from the outside as well.

    Moonstone was black/white for 2017-2019 but light grey/white for 2020+ ( Moonstone is still offered in Canada).

    Rear 12V outlet replaced in 2020 with 2 USB-A charging ports (2.1A).

    In Canada, the top Prime trim level has a machined finished alloy wheel replacing the alloy w/ aerodynamic wheel covers.

    Supersonic Red is 3US. Hypersonic is 3T7. It was changed for 2020. Supersonic red is oh so slightly redder than Hypersonic but you wouldn’t be able to tell them apart unless they were parked side by side.

    I believe vehicle load capacity (weight) also increased at the same time, but don't have numbers at hand.

    The fuel gauge in my 2020 was pretty linear that it would drop about 1 notch every ~70 miles. In the 2021, the first notch takes almost 150 miles to drop and then goes every 60 after that.

    Which battery? The 12V or traction?

    Reducing vampire drains from auxiliary systems while the car is off has helped with the 12V. The gen2 had a manual switch to trun off the SKS during long parkings, that is no longer needed. Moving the battery to the engine bay with the gen4 also means a larger battery.

    With gen1's going over 200k miles with the original traction pack, I didn't think that life was an issue.

    One thing we've noticed is that with out '21 Prius AWD is that there is no spare tire. Didn't realize that until a few months after we purchased. Not sure when that change came about as until that vehicle we owned a 13 Prius V which we loved but it started having traction battery issues.

    For this thread which is about Prius Prime, the models never had a spare tire since the initial 2017 models. In fact, that was also true for Gen1 PiP. This was due to lack of under deck space where usually a spare tire is stored was used by the bigger traction battery. For your Gen4 AWD-e model, Toyota had to eliminate the spare tire due to the location of the rear motor for AWD-e. I believe regular Gen4 Prius except for the base model (LE?) do not come with a spare tire, but they do have a space for the tire under the deck, so you have the option of adding it.
