Is it possible to disable the homelink stuff on the rear view mirror? Maybe a fuse I can pull or a wire I can cut? I don't have a garage or anything homelink compatible.

Homelink's only purpose is to open a garage door, am I right on that? I'm not sure why not having a garage door to open would motivate you to disable it? (n)

FWIW, it took my son and effort amain to get ours introduced to our garage door; I was completely stumped.

(Just encountered "amain" in a crossword, thought I'd try it out.)

How did you finally get it? I can't get mine to work. I tried both the method in the manual holding remote close to mirror and I tried pressing the button on the door opener and then holding the mirror button. I generally have range issues with my damn door openers too but I was inside the garage directly under it....

Seems like I had to do the procedure twice with my new opener.......and 10 seconds is a LOT longer than you think. :)

    And for the OP:
Those buttons use no power until they are pushed......AND removing the power likely will stop the "auto-dimming" feature of the mirror to stop working too.
