have searched this forum, the manual and online but couldn't find out if you can disable the interior alarm sensors in the new 2016 Prius, and if so how? It's useful if I need to leave the dogs in the car.

    Any help much appreciated
    Chris

I am not sure what you are trying to accomplish. Why do you want to do this?

Not sure this is something you would discuss on a public forum.

What type of dogs are they, and what do they do when you leave them in your 2016 Prius?

Hi all, thanks for the replies. I have a second gen Prius and there is a button below the steering wheel to turn off the interior alarm sensors (for the car / burglar / intruder alarm) when you lock and leave the car. The car is still alarmed, it just means when I need to leave my dogs in the car they don't activate the alarm if they move around.

I assumed this would also be possible in the new generation but we couldn't work it out when I took one out to test and I couldn't find it in the online manual.

    Many thanks
    Chris

there is no standard interior alarm, unless u/k is different. is yours 2007 an aftermarket affair?

    Found it.
In the UK manual it describes how to turn the 'theft sensor' off when you power off the car. I'd been looking at the US manual, which doesn't seem to describe that feature so maybe I was looking in the wrong place or maybe the features are different?
    Thanks
    Chris

It is interesting that the Gen 2 in the UK had an interior alarm and that the Gen 4 does as well there. Here in North America, neither one does so far as I am aware.

Wow! Not only do you get an interior alarm, the passenger has their own steering wheel and pedals! <G>

In the gen 3 there is a button on the ceiling by the interior light to disable the internal theft sensors (UK)

    That explains much......

We use a different security modality..... :D

@OP: Glad you found your answer!
Leaving pooches in cars is a hotter topic on this side of the pond (pun nearly unintended) because of our much warmer climate.
Usually some PITA type flames people at the very mention of the practice.

    Best of luck!
