I want to permanently disable the required maintenance message on my Prius C 2016. I know how to reset it but I want to disable it from ever coming on in the future. Is this possible? thank you.

Why disable such an important reminder? It takes 10 seconds to reset, so I don't see why this would be an issue?

Canadian cars don't have the reminder, so maybe it can be hacked?

As to the importance: most of the maintenance intervals are miles OR months, whichever comes first, and there are many overriding reasons for not following what's basically an odo counter. It seems here the problems with the counter far outweigh any benefits; it's a source of confusion for many.

Spray paint or a sharpie? :)

Take dash apart and cut the wires?

I had the same thought a few years back on here and got the same reaction... I never did anything about it...

The funny thing is, I am pretty sure I disabled this on my Prius 3 2015. It did not come up prior to my 30,000 service. But for the life of me I can not remember how I did it.

Hah, you reminded me of the most direct solution: just ignore it. Not to say you ignore maintenance, but no need to conflate one with the other.

To conflate is much more difficult than to deflate...

Because I WANT it to work EXACTLY the way I WANT it to. Period.

Never mind confusing the discussion with practical considerations.

How often can this be an annoyance ?? Every 6 months maybe ??
Just reset it and find something else to obsess about.

I'm guessing some way, some how it is possible.
I however do not know how.

My advice is just live with it, and reset it.
My opinion is, it's a POSITIVE FEATURE of the vehicle. Disabling it could be a problem if you ever resell or trade in the vehicle. At the very least, it could be problematic for the next owner of the vehicle, if it's disabled and not reconnected.

Disabling it would likely require a firmware hack and Toyota has not released a=source code or any information on that. They have an incentive to keep it to increase dealer service profits.

On the 2011 Prius Three, the reminders can be controlled on the navigation radio screen. Press
    SETUP --> Vehicle --> Maintenance
at the top of the Maintenance screen you can toggle the Reminder button on or off. (I assume 2012 and 2015 Three are the same.)

And even if you don't like it, maybe someday you'll loan your car to someone in your family and you want your car back, but they really need the car and then boom, that light you hated so much comes on and suddenly you have a perfect excuse to get your car back and they have to find something else. :)
