Hey everyone. Thought you can try this this quick trick without spending money on Carista to get rid of the annoying beeping sound when putting it in reverse.

1.) Make sure you cycle the trip/odometer button to Odometer.

2.) Press the start button to turn the car off.

3.) Press the start button to turn the car back on while foot on the brake and then press the trip/odometer button for 10 seconds.

4.) While holding the trip/odometer button, put the car in reverse and then back into park.

5.) You will see B- On appear on the instrument cluster. You can toggle it on or off by pressing the trip/odometer button.

This also works for seatbelts too if you get the idea.

I don't think Carista works on 2nd gen Prii, so this really helps if it works. I'll try it on my 2005.

I'm guessing, but for step 3 would that be pushing the start button twice without touching the brake to put the car in ignition mode?
Or do you hold the brake and start the car while doing this?

Yes with your foot on the brake as I forgot include that in my post. Hope this works for you.

It worked like a charm! Thanks! That beeping was just about enough to drive me crazy.
You said it worked for the seat belts as well. Do you keep toggling to get to the seat belt option or is there another step to get there?

That because you are in a Generation 2 thread. You car is most likely different being a Gen 4. Perhaps if you search (using advanced search to restrict it to the Gen 4 forums)/start a post in the appropriate Gen 4 forum, you will get the help you need.

Sadly, the “cheat code” trick doesn’t work on the Prime... you either have to buy the Carista or get the dealer to do it. I used to use the button combo to silence it in my Gen 2.
