Discounted Toyota Prius Extended Warranty /Service Contracts

    JUst got back the paperwork from tony for the Platinium extended warranty. 6 years/ 100k miles, as I drive over 20K per year. I didn't want to pay for that extra year. The price was an amazing $885.00 vs the dealers $1895 price. Tony said it would be a couple of weeks before I received the actual warranty from Toyota.
    A very easy pleasant experence dealing with Tony. Highly recommend to others.

    Sure am glad I started to read this forum before I got my Pri. :rolleyes:

    Just received my 6yr/100000 mile paperwork from troy ...very smooth transaction...nice and prompt and easy to deal with...im just waiting on toyota to send the paperwork from their end...thanks troy...nice doing business with you...

    I highly recommend to everyone considering getting an extended warranty to go thru Troy at Toyota of Greenfield. Not only does he have a great price on all the different service contracts……he was prompt and courteous. Once I sent in the check for the 7yr/100,000 mi/$0 deductible plan, I had the copy of application back within a week. My only regret is that I didn’t get the extended warranty back when it was $985. I am thinking about getting the prepaid maintenance plan next.

    :angry: The hybrid battery and the relay are on the list of NOT covered items, too bad, could have been worth it.

    Actually, the battery is covered under a separate warranty for 8yrs/100,000 and thats the reason its not on the extened warranty you can get from Troy

    Can you tell me a little more about the Prepaid Maintenance Plans? Is it still available for my 2005 Prius with the price of

    $670 for the 4 year/ 55,000 mile Premium Plan. MSRP $995.

    Picked up my 06 package #3 today. Very honest and fair
    dealership. The only point that I knew I would have to
    stand firm on was during the financing part and being offered
    the extended warranty (I had been planning on buying from
    Troy). When the finance officer offered me the 7y/100k
    platinum for $990.00 I refused it, mostly because I had planned
    to refuse no matter what, and buy from Troy.
    I didnt realize right then that he was offering me Troy's price! Wild.

    So, after purchasing the car, I got the 7y/75K for $550!, which, if I
    recall correctly from getting pricing from Troy awhile back, is
    actually less than what Troy is offering.

    I thought to mention this to show that there are other dealers out
    there offering a good deal on the warranty.

    Mind you, I was going to buy from Troy the whole way through, even
    after the great price offer, but then I realized it would just be a lot
    easier to take care of right then and there.

    Something doesn't sound right with that...unless its either not through Toyota Financial or maybe it was packaged with something else the dealer was making money on. The only reason I could see them doing it for that is to limit their liablity if you were to cancel it.

    Service agreements are subject to chargebacks to the dealers, so lets say they sell a plan that costs them $500 for $1000. and halfway through the plans period its cancelled, Toyota sends the customer the $500 (50%) and would bill the dealer for $250.00 (50% of the profit they made). But if on paper the dealer sells the plan for cost, theres no chargeback to them in the event of a cancellation. I have seen a few dealers do this when they sell the plans packaged with other things, they just throw all the profit on the items that aren't subject to chargebacks...like paint sealants or accessories.

    Of course I could be all wrong and you found a dealer willing to sell something at no profit for some other reason :rolleyes: ...but I doubt it.

    Hey there Troy,

    I thoroughly checked the plan, and it is an authentic platinum
    extended warranty straight from the dealer($0 Deductible), but, I think
    the difference is that they claim to be offering it only for the
    month of December, so it may have something to do with year
    end and the upcoming tax credit. This in contrast to you having
    offered a great deal all year long.

    But, get this, here is a breakdown of my car cost:

    MSRP - 06 #3
    $580 - Destination
    $186.00 - Mats
    $65 - RBA
    $59 - Wheel locks
    $299 - Dealer Doc Fee
    7.8% - Tax
    $370 - Title/License
    $550 - 7y/75K Platinum Extended Warranty

    Thats it!

    Thats great, usually when something sounds too good to be true it usually is, which is why I questioned it. Sorry to be such a sceptic. My only other guess without seeing the paperwork is that he is in a close race with another dealer in a contest that runs through the end of December. I know I am in one now that runs through Jan 3rd, for a trip to Atlantic City, but I have a pretty healthy lead :D Thanks in no small part to the members here!!

    You are probably right. It certainly baffled me when I heard
    the price. The whole deal was great, it was the warranty offer
    I was unsure of going in. I went in fully prepared to just nod
    the whole way through and decline the offer no matter what
    was said, and then out pops your price on the 7y/100k of
    $990.00! Wow, wait, am I in Massachusettes?? Nope, still in
    Arizona.

    A rare occurance for sure given the number of stories of high
    prices, myself having been sold a 7y/100k on an 05 earlier
    this year for $2200.00

    I don't usually add 'me too' messages to a forum but then I don't usually run into sales people that are as nice or as competent as Troy.

    Just wanted to repeat a lot of what has been said already. I emailed Troy for a quote and then followed up with a phone call with a couple of questions. Very pleasant guy with a fast response time and a terrific attitude. I sent off my check and got my reply in a couple of days.

    I've never purchased an extended warranty before, but I am considering one for my new Prius.

    This short list of excluded items seems rather lengthy to me. I was expecting to get coverage for the hybrid battery.

    What am I missing here?

    The hybrid battery is already covered by the federally mandated emissions system warranty which is longer than the extended warranty (and it is even longer in states which have adopted the California emissions standard).

    Thanks Troy for extending this offer to us. The dealer just called and was giving me the finall numbers prior to picking up my car on Jan 2nd :D

    They fully recommended me getting the extended warranty, the exact same as yours. The difference being, they wanted $1,750.00 for the warranty compared to your $990.00. I informed them that I already had an affiliation with a place whereas I could purchase the warranty for the $990.00. The salesman connected me to their service department, where I repeated the whole affiliation explanation and said I wasn't even going to go through them for the warranty.

    The service guy said that the $990.00 was cost, to which I said "I know". Since they wanted to "keep everything under one roof", they agreed to give me the 7yr/100,00 miles/ $0 dedecutible Toyota Extra Care Platinum plan - the same exact one that Troy offers, for the same $990.00.

    It was that easy to save $760.00. It makes sense of why they would agree to match the price, after I had read a comment from Troy about a contest expiring on Jan 3rd, regarding the sale of these warranty contracts.

    This is a great site. I have been reading the comments for awhile now and finally decided to register recently. I would rather read comments from the folks that drive the cars, then the ones trying to sell it. Thanks again and kudos to the administrator for all his efforts.

    I just had the touch screen display replaced at 32500 miles on my 2004. I was told that the part cost was $4,000. I don't know if that is true or not, but I am definitely going to get the extended warranty. As someone else noted, we are dealing with a Corrola here, but an extremely complex technology. The computer systems have been referred to has HAL 9000 and we know what happened to it in "2001 a Space Odessy"

    Does anyone have experience on making claims against the Toyota extended warranty? Is it seamless and done online there at the dealer?

    I will probably go with Troy. I have heard nothing but good things about his dealings.
