Is anyone using an alternative, disposable oil drip pan? I currently don't have any space to store a drip pan smelling of oil and the local dealerships all charge ~$90 for an oil change.

I was thinking about using an aluminum foil catering /roasting pan sold at grocery stores for a couple of bucks. Easy enough to pour back into the empty quarts using the funnel for disposal. Anyone else using a disposable drip pan?

This concept is kind of cool. Get a roll of the blue shop towels, and some sorta squeegee, to herd the last of the oil down the drain, and wipe up. The nice thing is near-zero oil-contam’d stuff, one or two shop towels.

Even better, if your area allows this, is a disposable oil change box.

Open up the box, fold the plastic bag over the top, catch the oil in absorbent material like shredded paper goods/cardboard and throw it in the regular trash for incineration.

See post #2, you can actually take the entire red cap screw container into an auto part store that recycles engine oil. They’ll take it to the back and dump it out then give it back to you. Screw cap back on, no smell and stores anywhere. Put it in a trash bag and tie it up if you have a very sensitive nose.

I decided to buy this Harbor Freight one. Reviews are great because it has O-rings in the cap and plug, so it doesn't leak.

    My approach is different.
(You guys have probably figured out by now that my approach is always different).

I bought a Fumoto oil drain valve. When you change oil, it’s designed to accept a plastic tube. I run this tube into a plastic gallon milk jug. Then I cap the jug and it’s ready for recycling.

If I position a wide funnel under the oil filter, same thing, it goes straight into the jug and then I put the oil filter into a baggie.

My setup, a 1.25 gallon No-Spill bottle, with a big funnel:

The red bottle behind is a 2.5 gallon No-Spill, containing new Toyota 0W20 bulk oil. For dispensing, this 5 liter graduated pitcher:

The No-Spills have gradations on the side which are handy:

This method means nothing but oil requiring recycling. Also, I never clean out any of these 3 containers, so much fewer soiled shop towels going into garbage.

Yeah I’m using a 3 ton floor jack, a total cheapie but manage about 19” floor to top of cradle unloaded. With 6 ton safety stands that I can JUST scoot under at my pref’d support points. You could probably source a much shallower funnel; that one has pretty tall side walls.

dang, searched for low profile funnel on Amazon :

BTW: l looked for squat funnel first, shudder…

addendum: unfortunately 2.5” OD spout is too wide for No-Spill bottles. :(
