https://www.usnews.com/news/us/articles/2026-07-14/house-passes-bill-to-ditch-the-switch-and-make-daylight-saving-time-permanent Personally? I'm thinking that you can't get 60 legislatures in the upper house to agree to ANYTHING, but that's all we need to end DST forever -or continue it forever.....depending on how one looks at these things. Bets? Thoughts?
Approve the switch in Congress, then a separate ballot measure as to which one to keep. I would vote for standard time.
There's already a fish-slapping contest under way about that. I'm thinking that the new bill would make DST permanent but I'm not emotionally involved enough to know for sure or care very much about it. If I were King for a day, I would "fall back" 30 minutes this fall and make that permanent until the issue was settled by a Constitutional Amendment or a veto-proof bill. I predict that this 'not-a-law' might just face a tougher slog in the Upper House than people might think JUST BECAUSE of who would have to sign it into law......or NOT sign it....as things go in these 'enlightened times.'
