Yes I have seen the 12 v systems

and I WOULD ADD the Inverter logic is public domain (and California disconnecting service)
so NOW we could save the (even cheap enough)
cost and use the existing inverter to get to even zero

its like dandelions showing up at once
    the conditions being right

well, you're doing yeoman's work, but i doubt the interest today will be much different.

most people here just want to be able to keep their cars running.
and the modders are only interested in bodywork

for sure What first or second owner would want to potentially harm a large investment,
they all bought it for the car.

this is an end of cycle thing

understood. but we still don't have much interest. if you come out with a cheap kit, and a way to connect without opening the battery or tapping into the high voltage lines, there might be a few takers

I think the main "condition" is owner motivation.
The conversion is going to have to be pretty quick and easy, which I don't think it will be.......so I think they will be few and far between.
That is assuming that the result will be anywhere near to the capacity that you think it will be........and I'm skeptical of that too.

    I guess I see a middle case.

Plenty of people won’t even consider an aftermarket stereo, let alone a major power system change.

But in a few specific localities, there’s going to be enough offgrid power demand to stimulate opportunity for say, existing mechanics/auto service independents to offer an extra service.

we hardly see anyone tap into the 12v for the simple 1000w inverter mod

I hope others will share here
    or resources will be added
for (non 12v inverter) larger power station Prius projects

    I agree with you guys
    any variation of these modifications
    its not for the majority
    of existing Prius users.

I believe that next year 2020
    we will see
    a NEW CROWD show up
    as more of these mods
    enter the public domain.

Prius chat is the first place
    I think people will look
    when this breaks

    please oh please
    come back in dec 2020
    in 1 year
    and judge my prediction

    I create these threads
    to create a magnet
    so more information
    can come to me
    to help me.
    So that during these months
    before i formulate
    I could learn.

what ever i do will place in public domain

    The Prius Electric Car conversion
however , in the other thread
    is a different thing
there are will be no Hi power mods
and I may offer just the boards to diy

I knew (and still don't know)
    much anything about Prius
    thanks for the help folks
    thanks alot

    Does any one know what
    power we can get directly
    connecting the MG1
    at a comfortable ICE RPM
    in neutral?
in the real word that has done it?

    based on MG2 being 50 kW @ 1200-1540 rpm
it looks we have no problem
for accessing MG1 's full 30 kw rating
    as MG1 must be similar

    and for that matter whats
    a comfortable top ICE RPM
for a G2 if expected to idle a few hours?

I don't know, what's comfortable but after starting my Prius is heating up at 1300 rpm with an unknown load.
I think this speed is okay for hours.

For best efficiency (see attached diagram) the load should be 90 to 95 Nm at a speed of 2500 rpm. But you'll have to take care about the heat. Toyota_1nzfxe_prius_bsfc.jpg

Plenty of problems there- it can be expensive to keep a car registered & insured, and in many places it isn’t legal to park an unregistered car. Never mind that it takes up a lot more room than a generator.

I could see somebody making a business out of stripping old Priuseses and turning them into stationary gensets, then selling & supporting them. I have a much harder time picturing anyone doing it for themselves though. Most people aren’t that interested/talented/desperate/available.

    Thanks
I going to assume the load would be similar
to a normal Prius with a low battery pack charging away
as MG1 would be be working to charge the battery pack
    (OK a sick Prius)

(although we may need to tax (MG1) to its max heat)

    I was comparing G2,3
    in G3
ICE is 98 hp 73 kW
    MG1 is 57 hp 42 Kw
    MG2 is 80 hp 60 Kw

so G3 with big 42 kw M1 generator
    is better way to go
    for the one motor option
whether its roving, parked, or removed

When I installed the harness on my hybrid battery for my Prolong Battery charger I also brought out some #4 cables that were hooked to the car side of the battery relay for hopefully a future 200 volt dc input inverter but found that little beast impossible to find.

There's a market for that Inverter given the fact so many beater G2's out there. And with global warming so many bad storms everywhere.

Some cheap Chinese hybrid inverters work straight from the 200/250 volts from the Prius high voltage battery. You just connect it at the solar panel input spot instead of connecting a solar panel. You can also connect a 48 volt battery to the inverter and the Prius will keep it full but it's not required. The inverter can run in batteryless mode.

Seems like there should be a way to program the factory inverter in the Prius to run your house instead of drive the electric motor. If the inverter wasn't capable of doing both at the same time you could take a used inverter from a Prius and customize it and then hook it to the high voltage battery in the running Prius. The Prius would of course run to keep the battery full and the extra inverter would make some massive AC power for the house, factory or whatever it is you were trying to power.

All these 2019 posts trying to get 30kw to 80kw electrical power from a PRIUS proved to be pipe dreams. Even the idea you could get gasoline during and after a major natural disaster is also flawed. Natural gas might be available and propane can be locally stored for decades.

But if 5 kw will keep you happy from a Prius
