Do I need the whole TPMS sensor to fix air valve?

I don't know if the problem is only OS and rip-off version of techstream version compatibility issue. I purchased mini-VCI to connect to car to laptop. They are only ~$20. The official techstream uses Mongoose VIM. MongoosePro Toyota 2 This cost way more than $20. There has to be some hardwear difference too.

Mine is the $16 version off of amazon:).

While there are probably differences, the J2534 protocol harness is a fantastic diagnostic tool;).

Haven’t need it for my needs yet (other than to change the reverse beep), but it’s ready when I do (y).

    Hmm...
    Glad I found this thread.
I bought some valve stem covers that reportedly are chrome. I've had them through the winter and no problems. But now, I'm nervous about keeping them on.
They look great, but I don't feel like getting stuck damaging my tires. Guess it's back to black (and plastic) for me.

And in typical sonly fashion, it was laughed off and will be forgotten:(.

    At least you tried;).

Maybe he’ll remember your advice and get you a nice Father’s Day gift(y).

It may not be a problem depending on where you live. I think road salt for winter does the damage. Unless you live in/around snow belt, you may be fine.

Couldn't find that XGauge entry video. Anyway, here's a crop from the manual, just the XGauge entry pages, set up for easy printing. The video is better, but fwiw:

    Maybe.
I kept mine on all winter and they are fine.
But after "googling" this problem and finding so many videos of people doing everything from using a dremel tool to cut off their caps, and really having a problem?

Well, the chrome looks nice, but it's just not worth it.

    Plastic is waterproof, durable...and non-corrosive.
Already installed a new set of plastic valve caps....total cost: $1.00.

Do you turn the beep off inside? Can you still keep the beep outside??

They have silver plastic caps. (It's more gray than silver) but looks MUCH better than the black ones. I don't think you can get it for $1 but worth it! :)

If you’re referring to the pedestrian beep on the outside, the early Gen3 ‘s do not have it;).

Just the annoying one that makes you sound like a semi:cool:.

Only one beep now does wonders(y).

Yeah...if it's only for the inside it's just ANNOYING! lol

Yup. All the more reason to reduce the noise(y).

Is there a way to make the hatch automatic close/open? I'm really short and I have to jump to get it closed and I have long nails and it keeps breaking my nails etc. It'd be SO much more convenient to have it close and open...or is that first world problems? [IMG][IMG]

    First world problem ;).

What about a small reach pole with a hook on the end to grab the hatch latch:whistle:?

    That might do the job(y).

Yeah, I found this Automatic hatch opener | PriusChat it seems like it'd be a major hack and nobody ever did it :/
It's fine if I have heels on...but the reach pole might be a good idea if they have one that's a few inches instead of those long ones. Thanks!

Instead of pole, you could install pull strap of sort on the hatch door. Something like this might work. https://racetech-usa.com/shop/door-pull I haven't checked the hatch, but the hack should be much easier than installing power hutch lift. ;)

Sometimes low tech is best and a lot cheaper.
