It seems to be standard practice to ask if and when one would ave with a hybrid or PHEV. But you never hear one who bought a Lexus, Acura, or Lincoln about how much he could have saved if he bought a Toyota, Honda, or Ford.

Personally, I bought a PiP because I wanted one! Fits my lifestyle, personality, and my belief system... So far, best car I have ever owned. Yep, even better than the used 1960 36 hp VW bug I had when I first got married... LOL

But my other vehicle is an ALCO.

I'm always concerned with gas prices. I noticed today just how much they have risen in the past three weeks. For the central Virginia area, Premium unleaded $3.87, diesel $3.64, medium grade unleaded $3.45, and regular unleaded $3.39. My wife & I have four vehicles. Two use premium, one diesel, and the Prius. I have a friend and business competitor. He's very comfortable in life and I've heard him say many times, "I don't care how high gas goes, I can afford it". That's comforting, but who really wants to pay high fuel prices? Too many vehicles, and especially newer vehicles require premium unleaded, while getting poor fuel mileage. I could understand a high performance vehicle. My 2011 Lexus IS 350, six cylinder requires premium as well as my wifes 2006 MB SLK. Until recently, I can't remember diesel fuel being cheaper than premium unleaded. Many can afford whatever the price of gas is going for. It beats walking. For many, it's a budget breaker and a economy wrecker. We've seen the peaks and valley of constantly fluctuating gas supplies and prices. A thought and line from the 1976 movie "Network". "I'm as mad as hell and I'm not going to take this anymore". Why? I drive a Prius.
