    As a Prius owner-times-two, I know about the affection (dare I say love?) we have for our silently gliding, fuel-efficient vehicle. I like to share my enthusiasm with Prius owners and try to convert non-owners.

    So, I pass along this information in hopes you find it useful for yourself or a relative, friend, co-worker. New England Toyota dealers have donated a 2016 Toyota Prius 2 Hybrid to WSBE Rhode Island PBS to auction off. The starting bid is $17,500; sticker for this vehicle is $25, 260. You must arrange for your own financing, but that task can be offset by a fantastic deal. Check out the listing, especially if you are in New England (except Connecticut). Of course, bidders from across the United States are welcome, but freight delivery charges will apply.

    I am sharing what I believe is a great deal with a great group of enthusiasts. Comments? Questions? (Do I need to get my suit of armor?)

    Hope the moderators have no objection to material like this here. I think it's fine. Not 'better than' cat pictures, but surely just as beneficial. There was a time I got some nice things from PBS auctions down east.

    The last radio-and-TV related Toyota promotion I heard about in America didn't end well.

    I hope this event goes more smoothly. Of course, if you all pronounced your Ts properly, this never would have happened.

    Anyway, good luck. There's a lot to be said for PBS channels.

    It is indeed. When it was a sewing-machine company it was called Toyoda. They swapped the D for a T to make it sound less Japanese, if I remember rightly.

    that was pretty neat trick by hooters, i wonder how they worded the original contest. not well enough, i guess.

    I vaguely remember from the time that it was spoken rather than written, which was why it was possible to confuse the situation. I think it might have been on their in-store radio station or done by an on-site DJ or something like that. I'm not sure what the set-up is in there: I've never been in one, and I can't say I have any plans to.

    i ate in one a long time ago while on business trip, suffice to say that was the first and last time, food was terrible, and the other 'attractions' more so.

    LOL - that news story is a "hoot"! And thanks for bumping the post. Glad we're all having fun! (I know I am!) You are a great bunch of linguistic acrobats - my very favorite sport.
