    I was going to get it but was told at the dealership when I bought my prime advanced "it's just a microphone" implying you all ready have the security installed stock.

    The Prius Prime comes with an immobilizer, not a security system, which keeps your car from starting. It was already on the window sticker as this was ordered by someone else. According to the booklet, it is supposed to have a security light on the dash and it can be made to honk when arming and disarming so you know it works.

    On our 2017 Lexus RX450h the dealer installed it as part of the deal. I was told it is a glass breakage sensor (microphone) as well as some other complement to the factory installed immobilizer. It does have a blue flashing light under the dash that goes out when you enter the car. I am planning to get one for my Prime as well and install it myself later on.
