Correct. 2021 model they just make 1 button illuminated (driver side window up/down), cost saving?

Here is how it looks for 2020 model:

Is it a drop in replacement?

@Elektroingenieur linked to his comment on the parts number. If you are sure that earlier than the 2020 model had the illuminated switch panel then 84040-47070 or 84040-47090 should work.

    • 84040-47070, through December 2018;
    • 84040-47090, from December 2018 through July 2020; and
    • 84040-48210, from July 2020.

Yap, it's just snap on. IIRC, you will need to remove the armrest pad to release the panel, but the pad is also just clip-on,

Can someone confirm that the lock/unlock symbols are lit on part #84040-47090? My recollection of my 2018 was that it wasn't, but I'm not positive. That would mean the other two part numbers are not illuminated and only 84040-47090 is illuminated. Bonus if all the window buttons are illuminated.

@citiprius commented on #21 showing the photo of the 2020 model with the lit door lock button. You may be correct that prior to 2018, it wasn't lit, but I don't remember noticing the difference between my 2017 and 2020. I never paid that much attention to the button. I rarely do nighttime driving and almost never needed to manually lock or unlock the door using that button.

It might be my old eyes, but it's difficult to tell in that picture if they're illuminated or just a tad overexposed. If they're illuminated I'm going to grab one. Here's to hoping I don't break anything disassembling. I've never taken apart those pieces so I hope they can just be carefully pulled off using enough force, gentle of course.

Plastic ply tool will help, but any strong flat piece will do the job. They are all just snap-in. No screws or bolts.

    I found a part from a parted-out 2020 for $89. Let's see how this goes.

I was following this thread from Rav4world , hoping to do the same thing with the Prius, as long as we can pull the part from a backlit pad, which Toyota does seem to use commonly, across their lineup, it should plug and play.
    Thank you so much!!!

From @PiPLosAngeles observation, pre 2018 PP did not have the lit lock button either. So your choice is 84040-47090. @PiPLosAngeles said he just ordered used from a junked PP. You can wait to hear from him about the result of the swap.

Glad to hear it. I should have the part early next week. As long as it's not scratched or damaged I'll probably install it within a day or two. I'll post pictures.

Shouldn't it be covered under warranty?

Part came today. Installed it in 5 minutes. The only problem I had is that one of the little yellow clips on the original switch assembly came off and fell down inside the door panel during disassembly. If fell down in where it cannot be seen from the top. I'm going to open the bottom and see if it will just fall out without having to remove the whole panel.

    1. The pathetic 2021 switch assembly in the "lit" state.

    2. The pieces unsnapped.

There are two electrical connections that are pretty self-explanatory. All functions appear to be working well.

Congratulations. Now, all we need is someone with the 2017-2018 PP model to confirm that the lock icons were not lit. It seems odd that Toyota switched from unlit in 2017-2018 to lit model in 2019-2020 then switched back to unlit in 2021.

The price difference at the dealer is over $200. The 2020 part is ~$360 and the 2021 part is $150. The 2018 part is in the middle at ~$235.

According to my sister with a 2018 none of the buttons light up. This is with the headlights on.

Looks like there aren't even places for a lighted window switch on any of them.
