Does Entune require you to have a tethering plan?

    Hi all,

Thinking about making the Prius plunge soon. I had a question about Entune that I haven't been able to find an answer to anywhere.

If I want to use Entune will that also require me to pay extra to AT&T for a data plan that supports tethering? Because it looks to me that you are actually tethering the car's audio system to the internet through your phone.

    Many thanks for the clarification.

I thought it was going to be a separate service like OnStar.

It does not require a tethering plan. I had exactly the same concern as you.

Entune basically is simply a way to allow you to use the car's touch screen as an interface to the Entune app running on your smart phone.

Note that Entune is implemented a little differently on the cars that have the HDD based nab system (with a 7" screen) vs the 6" display audio system.

The fancy system is an option on the v 5 (I have the v 3).
