Does your prius fart after 5mins of turning it off

Hmmmmmm......."fart" equals spring noise......not the last time I heard !

 

Only when I use 87 Octane Garlic enhanced gasoline!!!

 

I hear all sorts of weird noises after I turn mine off. Sounds like vents opening and/or closing.

Our gen II and gen III seem to "talk to each other" when we get home each day. The garage is full of strange noises for about five minutes.

 

Having had the privilege of helping to cover 3 Space Shuttle landings at Edwards AFB! I was outside the trailer as it passed, just a big whoosh! A bit further down runway you can hear the tires screech, finally after the shuttle stops rolling, it just sits there burping, whirring, farting, and just making these "Good, I can rest now" noises.
I akin the Prius to a Shuttlecraft, though it will never get more than a foot off the ground, like its distant cousin the Shuttle, mine sits there whirring, gurgling, just thankful to survive another sortie onto the SoCal freeways!

 

Yep, mine makes those noises a few minutes after shutdown. Also, don't be surprised by the fuel system test that initiates 5 hours after shutdown.

My pip makes these sounds too.. When I'm driving in ev mode the thing also sounds like something out of star wars.. Electronic noises .. So wierd..

I was told the noise is the EVAP system.

 

While sitting in my 2011 Prius, approximately 1 1/2 to 2 minutes after shutting off, I hear a "ka-chunk---thump" sort of noise, that seems to come from the engine compartment in front of the driver. There is also a mechanical feeling in the brake pedal that accompanies this noise. Is this what the original poster is experiencing? It does seem to be related to the brake system. The time it takes for the noise to occur seems to depend on how soon after the brake pump ran that I turned the car off. If I turn the car off immediately after the brake pump stops, the noise did not occur even after waiting 6 minutes.

Yes! Scared the sh*t out of me especially since I get home late at night and it's usually dead quiet around my neighborhood. I parked in the garage one day, opened the garage door, stepped out to have a smoke, and my II shot out a quick *fart* lol.

 

That would be what I hear... Fluids moving, things opening and closing and buzzing. I shrugged it off as "Prius noises." Freaks out friends who have never heard the noises a Prius makes as it puts itself to bed...

Never thought of any Prius sound as a "fart" sound... I raised three sons (one "adopted") and the noises those boys made were definitely unique!

 

My brother's new Tacoma does that... Freaked him out enough to take it to dealership to have the fuel pump checked...I don't wait around waiting to hear what noises the Prius decides to make once she's tucked in for the night....

 

Or cabbage enhanced - you could be skywriting with that concoction!

 

Good Gawd if my dog made a noise like that she'd be headed to the veterinarian to see what the hell she ate....
