We are considering a Prius v, but having trouble finding information about the interior measurements (aside from volume). We have two dogs who travel with us frequently and we would like to be able to fit a largish and a medium size crate into the car. We almost never have passangers in the back, so the back seats would be folded down. Will a large and a medium size crate fit, maybe one behind the other? If you use a crate, how big of an issue is that the seats don't fold completely flat? Would using some kind of a cargo area cover create a reasonably comfortable surface for the crates?

These are the dimensions for the Prius + (the UK 7 seat version in mm), it's just a case of converting to inches if you prefer.

The 1st number is for the T4 version and the 2nd number is for the T Spirit version but as they are the same regarding size, they come out the same.

Also remember that you can take out the Styrofoam baskets under the rear cargo floor to gain a few more inches of depth/height. Just don't block the traction battery vent that is easy to spot on the rigth/passenger side.

Thank you. So the UK 7 seat version is the same as the Prius v in the U.S.? If my math is right, the overall length with rear seats down is only 38.7 inches, so I'm guessing that means the third row seats down, but not the second row?

I'm not sure what the styrofoam baskets are. Where are these and what do they look like?

Here are two You Tube video reviews you might find helpful.

In this one, the reviewer puts a very large dog crate in the back of a Prius v:

The next one is a thorough look at the interior space from Prius Chat:

Look under rear cargo floor for styrofoam baskets. Don't know if they are there in the 7 seat Prius + or alpha.

There are no 7 seat Prius v (wagons) sold in USA. The v stands for versatility, not a trim level.

Page 16 of link above (section 3-5) shows the styrofoam baskets or auxiliary boxes as they call them. The spare tire is under the auxIliary boxes.

Thanks so much. It looks like there is definitely plenty of room. The spaces between the seats and the uneven surface is not going to be ideal for the second crate (or dogs in general), but we can probably make it work. The seats in the classic Prius seem to fold almost flat without the gaps and such, but obviously not enough room for a large crate in that.

I see what you mean by the styrofoam baskets now. Another inch or two of height would definitely be helfpul. Our bigger crate is 31 inches tall. But we will probably end up downsizing a bit from that for the car.
