Don't put the jump box or cables in the storage under the hatch

    apparently when you hit the lock button 2x it activates the security system. If someone steals the car, it will only drive so far and then shut down.

    Nope.
    There's two systems on most cars. First is the "immobilizer", which prevents the car from starting or running if you do not have the correct key. Second is the "antitheft" system, which sounds an alarm if the car is opened without disarming the system using the key/fob. Neither system can "shut the car down" once it's driving.

    The antitheft arms anytime the car is locked. AFAIK double pressing the lock button on the fob just gives you a horn chirp as confirmation that "yes, I did really lock the car".
