Im looking to get an OBD-2 device so that I can see my engine coolant temps and maybe look at the hybrid battery cells. Unfortunately, I have Iphone and the Dr Prius app only works with Android? I guess I could buy a cheap junk Galaxy phone to use the app? I wouldn't need to have cellular service Im guessing if I did this?

Did you research? It works on iPhone. I'm using the Carista dongle.

According to the P10 OBD info, the Dr Prius app only works on Android. Maybe that is old information? Ill check out the Carista dongle now. Thanks

Ok, great. I guess I looked at some old information. It mentioned “Android only” for Carista. Is this the one Id need for a 2nd Gen Prius? Thanks so much.

Dr. Prius works with iPhone... The challenge is there's lots of junk readers on the market and you gotta find one that won't be DOA. Here's buyer's guide: Hybrid battery diagnostic and repair tool for Toyota and Lexus

With the Carista obd dongle, for some reason I'm currently seeing nothing on Amazon. For starters, I would look on the Dr Prius website; there's a page discussing the various dongle, their pros/cons.

FWIW, this is what I got, a few years back now:

With all the distractions about phones, you've overlooked the fact that Dr Prius is probably not full-featured enough to do what you want to do.

Read up about various apps and their capabilities here.

Dr. Prius will work on iPhone, but it's very battery-centric. For more general purposes, try OBD Fusion or Engine Link. At least one of them (I forgot which or if it was both) required me to pay $10 to get all the Prius PIDs. Well worth it.
