I bought it as a commuter, to get me from point A to B. It does everything I ask for in a commuter car. It is not really fun to drive nor sporty compare to other cars. If you think so, I think there are some issues. Of course your opinion might be different, but I think you will find more people agreeing with me. It's like comparing the attractiveness of an obese woman. Some people like it, some people don't.....(don't mean that as an insult)
Then you should've bought a Yaris lol. That's a fantastic commuter car. It's basic and gets you from A to B with minimum fuss and ridiculously low total ownership cost. If you're suggesting that I think the Prius is a a Golf GTI, you're sorely mistaken. There's a difference between looks and performance.

I always leave the car in ECO mode. One time, I had to floor the gas pedal to let someone get behind me from a freeway ramp (someone who was slowing down to get on the freeway... . I noticed a lag/delay before the engine got to full power. I’m unsure if this is related to being in ECO mode or not… I’d have to do it again but flooring a Prius isn’t a thing a like to do!
I think Toyota's trying to balance out the power a bit between the gas and electrics so as to not make the car rev up immediately and sound like a traditional cvt transmission. But I'm betting you felt the acceleration begin immediately and then more so as the RPM's ramped up. Yeah - if you're watching your mileage, flooring it is a sure way to drop it down really quickly. I've also been mostly using ECO mode and sometimes Normal mode, and I find that I can almost use them interchangeably without noticing much difference between them. But I tried power mode for most of my trip into work today (about 30 miles), and boy did I notice a difference in performance there .
Yaris is more noisy, smaller and less safe than the Prius, it doesn't do what I want in a daily driver. I bought the Prius as it gave me all the things I want in a daily driver, sportiness and performance aren't the reasons. With the 3rd gen, they made it a little bit more fun to drive, but it is still nowhere close to be a sports sedan. It is a mid size family car, that's all that is.
Exactly. So what's your point? People modify Camrys as much as they modify Celicas and Civics. Heck, there are modified smarts for goodness sake.
