I've had 2019 my Prius Prime for six weeks now and already have placed 4,000 miles on my "new" car lol! I've already taken it on two trips from Los Angeles to Mammoth Mountain, a trip to San Diego, and my daily commute of 62 miles per day doesn't "help" either. In addition, everyone says "let's take the Prime" whenever we want to drive somewhere to save gas compared to other vehicles.

Overall, my lifetime MPG is 105 so far. Would be a lot higher except for those long gas-only Mammoth Mountain trips hahahaha.

Souunds like the Prime is the perfect go to car for these type of things.

Glad to hear it is serving you well.

I wouldn't worry much about the miles. I think ... it could be preventing you from simply appreciating how useful the car has been to you and will continue to be.

Can you charge at work? Otherwise you can't get 105 mpg.

Sorry, I beg to differ. I commuted for 6 months with a 72 mile round trip. I only charged at home and I averaged 108 mpg for those 6 months and that was from January through July 2017. So it is possible. I'm sure others have even better results.

I'm working part time now with a 3 mile one way commute. :D A charge lasts about 5 days if I don't have any side trips to make. lol

    Nice commute:).

Can’t wait for those days, but I’m probably 20 years away from them:cool:.

But sounds like you still get enjoyment out of it in short spurts (y).

Those days came faster than I thought. I still enjoy driving my Prime. Hands down, the best car I've ever owned. It is a learning experience and it changed the way I drive.
Best of luck with yours! (y)

Congratulations! You are on track to drive 34,666 miles in your first year of PRIME ownership.
Yeah, I think my first summer with PRIME also had the highest miles per month.

Glad you like the new ride, @skierrob. Same here.

I charge at home and work. Only a 9.5 mile commute each way. So far, about 1,700 miles in just under 6 weeks. 91% EV. Have to switch to metric to get my mpg. It's 0.5L/100km, which converts to 470 mpg plus or minus depending on the precision of that 0.5 number. Prior to trading in the PiP (about 45% EV), I had estimated the Prime would be about 90% EV. So far, spot on.

Keep on driving! You can be our long range Prime longevity scout. :) What a fantastic car!!

And if it does not, the replacement will likely get 50% better mileage in 10 years.

I had 2400 miles on mine by the time I got home from the dealer. Bought it in CA, live in NE.

    That's cheating! :D

I'll be going through NE next month. Seeing friends & family in TX, AZ, CO, WY, & NE. Can't wait to finally make a road trip with this thing. :)

This area of the country is best on the back roads. US Highways, major state highways. Almost as fast as the interstates, less stressful, better scenery and more relaxing. And with a 550 mile + range, you don't have to worry about the one station in a small town being closed that day.

ABSOLUTELY!! I've been across NE lots of times having lived in Denver and Sioux City with some friends in NE.

US 20 across NE is a great drive!! But I usually didn't have time for it. I'm hoping we won't be in too big of a hurry to go that way this time because I hate I-80. Problem is that we have a lot of ground to cover in three weeks, so we'll need to use a lot of super-slabs.

We just did a 3 week trip from Utah to FL and back. 5800 miles visiting family and friends . But we did it in our MH. Made up for all the gas taxes I didn’t pay last year driving my Prime.

Hope you have a safe trip as we did.

The Prime, we call her Sandy, is our go to car as well. Bought her in July, and there hasn't been 1 day in which she has sat. My wife works 27 miles one way and I work 22 miles one way. Mostly charge at night and am averaging close to 100 mpg. This includes a camping as far as Salt point state park, Grand Canyon, University of Phoenix stadium for the Ram's game and recently Powder Mountain in Utah. Starting location from Southern California.

It was awesome to have a level 2 charging places nearby or even at those locations. Will probably average 30k miles per year.

Almost perfect vehicle for SoCal's traffic congestion and road trips due to range and efficiency.
