... DYI rear brake job; '04 drum/shoe adjustment ~

    ... gearing up for a DYI brake job on my '04 commuter Prius. I don't have a Haynes or an OEM shop manual; couldn't find video at the you-tube, either.

    Front disc brake assembly relatively straightforward, I'm good to go on that. Just a quick question, if you please? Are rear drum brakes on early Gen IIs self-adjusting? Or, do I have to manually calibrate the new shoes, after installation?

    Even my '73 Celica had self-adjusters (e.g., just roll the car backward; yank up on the handbrake a couple times; that simple). I can't believe my Prius wouldn't.

    Yep, there are star wheels, and they work with the parking brake. Good luck.
