The VW dealer by me has a charger, but they went out of business twice in the last five years.

ya, you go uphill and loose 4 miles, i just like the way it drives, there is no doubting vw has many designs known to fail in every way every 40k miles

125 miles and $32K? In a couple of years that will bring a laugh by most. If $32K is still too much right now, even a Tesla Model 3 is currently less than 40 thousand (inclusive of the $3750 credit) for double those miles, and they can deliver that in one week. VW doesn't have much street cred with real BEV's yet, but they sure have promised a lot. We'll see. The Kona, if you can ever get one, is viable, and well designed for less than 40K also.

The e-Golf is a BEV conversion like the Focus electric. I'll wait to see how VW handles their I.D. line of BEVs before passing judgement.

Don’t hold your breath unless a VW diesel is driving by.

I’m happy to pass judgement on vdub now: fail

And again five years from now

Until I saw the details on their new BEV platform, I held the same judgement.
As of this moment, Tesla and VW are the only car companies with a BEV dedicated platform.

If I purchased a vdub bev, I would want the dealer to have an array of charging stations, since that’s where most owners spend their time

With the last two VWs, I thought the dealer was going to give me my own parking space.

Even if VW lives up to their promise, I expect Tesla to still out produce them in the beginning, because of their battery supply advantage.

VW has multiple models planned using this platform in just the next three years. So we can pass judgement soon. Now even if they do keep up the promise, we still might not see many of these models in the US, because of our gas prices and dealerships.

The VW group has Audi, Porsche and VW (at least) trying to produce EVs. Now which would you allocate a limited supply of batteries to? Gee, you'd do it like Tesla?

what they really out of do with these new electric cars is make a second battery adaptor, like the old 1999 f150 8cyl trucks, that had 2 gas tanks.
then add 4 grand and youd get double your range

I gotta sell that idea to vw

;) Right. Free. And at that dealership it is worth exactly that. I really hate car dealers* big time.

Rivian is doing exactly that. Optional (expensive) add-on Battery pack in the front of the bed.
