EGR Cleaning at Hybrid Pit

    Can anybody recommend an experienced shop in the SF Bay Area, East Bay that can do this work for a reasonable price like Hybrid Pit?

    But really. I’d drive the 500 miles to Orange County, but are there any shops of their caliber in Northern California? I’m in the Sacramento area. 2015 Prius 2, 132k miles, running great, but it’s a mystery to me and I leave magic to the pros and you savvy owners.

    Regarding the engine bay pic, besides the missing Toyota emblem (on plastic cover atop engine) maybe suggest the (Lexus p/n 82821-76010) wiring cover:

    Come on! HP gets discussed several times a week around here. The better alternative to JDM when a transplant is needed. I would have them ship to my local discount shop.

    If they bore the cylinders, then they are too thin. Where do they get the larger
    pistons and rings?
    "iffy" if felpro is better than a Toyota head gasket. Do they use a thicker head gasket
    to make up for the lost material of the head, and block? Which would increase the compression.
    And bring the piston and valve closer to each other.

    Does the head gasket have a second sheet of aluminum in it to make up for the cut material
    to keep the correct compression?
    I'm not saying the engines are not "remanufactured" well or incorrectly, just wondering if they
    are taking all that into consideration.

    With jdm, who knows what you are getting? If it fails, what warranty do they have? How long do you
    have to wait for another engine? How long for the first one?

    Do either place pay for the labor and parts in replacing the defective engine?

    We just finished putting some long Miles on our Frankenstein engine build Needles to say but this may be a bullet proof motor using components off a Toyota Hybrid motor not offered in the States.

    We offer several packages for people that are on a budget

    Bronze - stock cylinder bore using new Toyota Piston rings

    Gold - stock cylinder bore using revised Toyota Pistons and Piston Rings

    Performance - .20 bore size with Larger Pistons and Piston Rings

    Platinum - Toyota Zero mile block with upgraded Pistons and Rings installed by Toyota

    Frankenstein - still in development, using many components from a Toyota Hybrid engine from Japan with different shape pistons using stock bore.

    recomment boring because the walls are too thin. Do they put in new sleeves?

    If I had real money to spend and if my car was from a state outside of the rust belt, I might go for a NEW genuine Toyota short block and a NEW head gasket instead of an engine rebuild like this one done by the Car Care Nut in his video.

    It’s not answering your questions, but we do a lot of R&D seeing what works and what does not.

    Since we are located in SoCal we have many prototypes out in the field for various testing to see how far we can stretch the envelope.

    Many Shops don’t have the resources to do what we do and may not want to go out of their comfort zone but it’s all about ‘Passion with Perfection’ which we do best!
