You should only need 2 of those 3;).

    But better to be prepared:).

We’ll be doing similar things out here today. Good luck (y).

Inverter coolant done. Plenty of gurgling during the fill. Ready mode recycled several times.

You guys hosting your monthly Prius meet? Very cool! Wish there was a similar organization here in New England.:(

My coolant is still draining from the ICE LOL. :D

While waiting for the coolant to drain, one can clean the ICE valve cover. :ROFLMAO:

    Yup:).

It’ll be a mix of Gen3, Gen2 and probably at least one PIP. Was hoping for a classic this round:(.

    Maybe next time (y).

You are correct! I only needed two. Returned the third this afternoon.

ICE coolant job completed. :) Instead of placing the car in maintenance mode, I put it in Ready mode and cranked up the heat. ICE ran for 10 minutes before shutting (y)down. Checked both coolants. Looks good.

While the under cover was off, made a quick repair on a crack.

Hoping mine with 104k won't be too bad then. Should I still install an OCC?

Based on experiences from other PC members and @danlatu thread Oil Catch Can, Eliminate that knock!., I would highly recommend it. (y) Consider it a preventive maintenance item. The only active OCC debate on going is whether to place it above or below the PCV valve. We shall see!

FYI: I installed the OCC behind the left front headlight (a popular location) which places it above the PCV valve.

Thanks! I might do that. It looks like an easy mounting option. Don't want to get myself into anything over complicated. Toyota might shake their head when they see it, but oh well....

I checked the OCC for the first time today. Here is the result. It prevented the captured liquid substance from getting into the intake manifold. (y)

Ok, forgive my ignorance... I'm still learning about this OCC stuff. A few newbie questions:
How does this liquid get into the manifold in the first place?
Secondly, what damage would this cause if it was not being caught by the OCC?

No worries. We like questions (y).

The material caught in the can comes from the crank case through the PCV valve. The can functions as a “wide spot in the line” before returning to the intake manifold :).

Depending on your driving conditions and style, you may have to empty the can frequently, or check to ensure you don’t have to;).

If not caught by the can, these light components would get into the intake manifold then through the system where air usually is:(.

    Hope that helps(y).

Warm moisture and fuel laden air meets the cold intake air = condensation. With my OCC in the path of the intake air: this chills the OCC and leads to more distillation. Every weekend the OCC is at least half full in the winter and spring. That's far more than what I've seen reported on PC.

Liquids are incompressible. Enough liquids can cause a bad head gasket.

Great video @Bgustafson! Haven't tried that particular brand OCC. The majority of PC OCC installers have favored the Ruien OCC due to it low cost and internal baffled duel chamber function.(y)

Question for those of you who have completed the EGR cooler cleaning procedure; what is the evidence that the cooler is now clean? .....will water run freely in one end & out the other? .....can you see light (flashlight) from one end to the other?......other proof?.....
    Thanks

    I use the flashlight test;).

I will be doing this tomorrow for the second time, so I can share what the removed cooler looks like:).

It’ll only have about 55k miles on it, but still good to have the data point (y).
