Yeah I would think it varies, some service departments are reasonable, open minded, others might go "Costco" on you..

Im thinking maybe. Just maybe. Some hardened carbon pieces got stuck somewhere there at the IM or egr passages because of imperfect cleaning i did

You use 87 because that's what I'm using. does this car need premium? Maybe that's the issue? Just thinking.
In another post i had written that i haven't started the car in over a week. So it sat in cold weather. When I started it up the engine shook for a bit then smoothed out, but no check engine light.

IMHO, this car needs clean gas with detergents (top tier) or regular injector cleaners. From what I've read - the rings easily get coked up which can lead to more blow-by and oil burning.

They also need periodic EGR cooler cleaning and Amos may soon need one.

    Needs OCC install. Long hoses
Tucked out of site as opposed to out in the open for all to see... it shouldnt effect emissions. Mines in a corner by crank pulley.. way low. Cant even see it without removing air intake snorkel and resonator...

Im at the dealer now for the knocks i had. They didnt find anywring but now they are telling me i have code b1585. I have all lights on my dash for abs traction control antiskid cotrol they all lit. Now dealer is telling me i need to replace the ecu for the cost of over 4000$.
Yes um shocked and yes i never had any problem with any of those issues. I think they messed it up.
Do you have any relevant material on that code b1585?
Im waiting for the service manager.

What do they say "b1885" signifies?

I see one somewhat relevant hit with google, saying "low restance on air bag squib", and doesn't seem to be Prius or Toyota specific:

B1885 Seatbelt Driver Pretensioner Circuit Resistance Low on Squib

    upload_2017-12-11_11-1-1.png

I searched my 2010 Repair Manual for "b1885", found nothing.

I'll tell them that. They are doing a total reset to all computers in the car. It will take three hours. No charge. But i feel im toasted they sgowed me code was there before and other dealer before was lucky to reset it but now no more. Redicilous. They told me straight in my face.fix it or take it out of here no centiments.

It better be no charge, all it takes is for you to disconnect the 12v battery for 1 minute. 3 hours must include their donut breaks

I think they f'd up that ecu responsible for the break assemblies. But im not naive to believe they will admit it. And i dont know how to prove im right. Worst experience for me with any dealer or any car i had.right now ans not working. And i get a beep for every little hump on the road. Tried it for couple of miles. I have to wait now .

    Cleaned:
EGR + cooler - was dirty
EGR pipe - was dirty with round deposits
manifold intake - was clean, very
replaced PCV valve - was ok
inspected throttle body - was clean

    For EGR i did:
    - cleaned using air compressor. some stuff came out
    - cleaned using a EGR cleaner in a compressed can, it worked VERY well, disolved a lot of stuff.
    - cleaned with water hose
    - cleaned with air/water pressured
    - cleaned/dried with air compressor.
It looked very like-new at the end, I should have taken some photos. I could see no other stuff when looking through it
