Electric Car Plug In Sets Nearby Building on Fire!

Interestingly enough, I think that having gasoline cars burn up is not newsworthy because people just expect gasoline cars to burst into flames every so often. But have an EV start burning, and it gets everybody excited and talking about how dangerous batteries are. Amazing.

What astonishes me is that Joe Sixpack can pull into a gasoline station and dispense his own fuel right out there in the open, with no vapor seal, and relatively few percautions (considering the volatility of the product). We trust joe to turn off his engine, to discharge static, and to not smoke. We trust him to ground his Jerry cans before filling them. Honestly, I am pretty amazed that we don't have gasoline catastrophies more often than we do. (And this is completely disregarding the part where the making and burning of gasoline kills us slowly WITH our knowledge, and apparent blessing.)
