I typically use my Volt=LEAF+"Prius-like" analogy when speaking with members of the general public at plugin vehicle displays at Earth Day and similar events. Many of them have a vague notion about how a "Prius-like" hybrid works (start-stop, CVT) but not much more.

I've been driving a Prius for 12.5 years so I'm fully aware of the FUD and BS. My analogy was designed to be precisely imprecise in order to efficiently explain how the Volt powertrain operates. I think the analogy works at this site as well since quite a few Prius drivers still don't know much about the Volt except that they are pretty sure it gets poor gas mileage.
