Has anyone in AZ installed an EBH? Thinking about getting one but may need some assistance, on the other hand maybe not. It just helps to have someone around who has experience in doing this install.

I think that I could still benefit from using this every morning even with the high heat due to my short commute which is 10-15 mins.

Apologies for asking a stupid question, but how does this thing work? It looks like you are supposed to plug it into a wall outlet in order to use it. Is this correct?

Nope! It doesn't interface with the Prius in any way. The heating element physically rests inside a hollow cylinder cast into the engine block just for this heater. It's OK to have any competent person install it.

I could probably pick up some of the installs in the Northeast, too.
I might want to practice up on the from-below method for the sake of
speed, although having the cowl out makes running the wire so much
easier and allows construction of a good "vibration loop" along the
same path as the heater-core hose. On the other hand, I've gotten
pretty fast at pulling the cowl as a standard routine now...
