Where do you stand on oil catch cans Ray, bought one a few months back but haven't fitted it yet.
Has anyone got ant proof they reduce the build up of carbon or is it just wishful thinking.

I have one on our 2010 and mounted it on the lower cross member. I mounted it low so it acts like a true knock out pot.

I put ours on last winter and cleaned the egr circuit at the same time. My plan is to clean the egr circuit every 50 k miles so next Christmas I’ll be able to answer your question about it making a difference.

But addin the catch can is something I’d add and check the level often if I were in your position seeing the amount of deposits you are generating.

This is all really good info guys, and thanks for the photos! I'm trying to get a list of items to address for my next tune-up (engine-related). Feel free to add to it!

    Clean:
    1. Intake manifold
    2. Throttle body
    3. EGR pipe
    4. EGR cooler
    5. EGR valve
    6. Injectors
    Replace:
    1. Spark plugs
    2. PCV
    Add:
    1. Oil catch can? Any recommendations?

That's a tall order, and tricky. I don't recall anyone here getting into that as yet. Maybe just try adding an injector cleaner at fill-up, for starters.

If you've got deep pockets the Moroso 85474 is very nice. Maybe chauvinistic, it's what I got.

Instead of doing the injectors I’d run some BG Products 44k through them;).

    Think of super concentrated Techron:).

The Moroso is more coin than required, but that would be effective. I picked up the $38 on Amazon version and it works well for us(y).

Would you believe I've got a spare Moroso "kicking around"? Son was asking about it, then cold feet. I'll figure out something to do with it. I know: put it in the crawl space with the PIP rims.

RX Performance won this shoot-out, with Moroso:

It's not cheap either, though. One thing: you can take them with you, from car to car.

Another addition to the shrine :).

    Hopefully they don’t become relics(y).

I think I finally got rid of all my spare Gen 2 parts except for a new set of rotors on the top shelf in the back of my second garage and I can't get to it without moving cars. I have them promised to a guy I used to work with.
