I fear the sheep may be taking the weekend off...

I last heard from them at 10:44PM EDT last evening.

Should not those sheep have green wool?

Still down 4:30 Eastern. I guess I have to walk all the way to the garage to check charge. Woe is me!

I'm more concerned about my oranges and tulips! Yup, they're down again; I spoke to Chris at Toyota Corporate this afternoon about 1:30 Pacific time, he was leaving in about an hour and said he would at least get back to me by Monday regarding the resolution of this problem. There is no access to charge level, Echo dashboard, or remote climate settings. I drove some serious miles today, too! (Of course on electric!)

Since this seems to happen frequently you would think they would know what to check to fix it.

Well, the system was not working at 6:30PM EDT when we met friends for dinner before theater. After the show, I didn't bother to check and just walked back a couple of blocks to a very cold car which had been parked outdoors in 27-degree weather. (Only three more days until Spring!) It would have been nice to be able the "pre-condition" the cabin.

Now back home at about 10:30PM EDT, the system appears to be back up and working. The ECO dashboard has updated and Charge Management shows the Prime actively being re-charged.

All the sheep, oranges, tulips, pine trees, clouds, rainbow and sun are right where they should be. :)

It's 8:40 p.m. here on Saturday night in Southern California, and the Eco Dashboard and the Charge Management are both not working. I'll keep trying it tonight as late as I can to see when and if it fixes itself.

Well, I just checked Charge Management a minute ago at 11:45PM EDT and it updated quickly, showing the Prime still happily charging in my garage, now with a 29 mile range and an estimated 20 minutes remaining to full charge.

I'm only a little surprised that the system does not seem to come back up everywhere at once. It's possible the Entune server is really a cloud of multiple virtual servers which share a database. Just one of those mysteries of technology, I suppose.

UPDATE: It's now 11:53PM EDT and I just received the push notification that the Prime charging is completed.

Took the Prime out to buy some produce, and reset the Eco Dashboard; the Charge Monitoring had started working about 20 minutes ago.
It worked, the system is back up! It's 9:28pm here in Socal.

Has anyone noticed the Android Entune 2 app is now listed as a Beta release? I guess Toyota has done this to prevent user reviews from being public. Looks like the Entune 3 has one of the lowest scores (1.5) of any software on the store.
I would hide the user reviews too if my software was as bad as Entune.

Mine is not. You must have opted in to the beta releases.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app. Still a Beta version that will not allow public comments.

You have to "leave" the beta, then remove and reinstall.

I just spoke to Chris at Toyota customer relations 9:25 a.m. on Monday the 19th of March. I thanked him for his help with the Echo Dashboard problems. I asked him about the 2018 Prime; he said as far as he knows, there are no changes to the car, the MSRP is still the same price, and it does NOT appear as though the chargepoint $100 gift card is still available; it is not mentioned in the 2018 Prime information that he has seen. We are not likely to get the Entune version 3 for our cars, or the 2018 Primes; according to him, the update of Entune 3 will only be available for newer model cars. He has seen no specification changes so far on the 2018 Prime versus the 2017 Prime.

The servers are probably down on Toyota's end, like they were last time. Seriously, they need to have some management system to alert them when a server/group of servers go offline, or they need some redundancy.

Jeez, whoever built their network has no connection with the people who build the cars!

They were down like last time. There are the people that answer the phones @1-800-331-4331. One of their lead people is Chris. Then there is their IT group, and then there is another telemetrics group and/or hosting group. Many layers.

If you think about it, this is pretty new for them. They have little long term experience supporting an app and vehicles that talk back to their systems. They're charging ahead but I think it will be less than perfect for a while. I suspect the new highest level 2018 Camry is cleaning their IT and support clocks.

Chris indicated that the Camry owners were calling in much faster than the Prius Prime owners. Hey, works for me.

For myself, having to support several "thousand" file servers, SAN's, etc., in multiple data centers, I can see what they are lacking in monitoring, etc. I also know how much monitoring systems cost. I remember specing out one of our very first application monitoring systems from NetIQ. Dedicated server, cost of purchase software and annual maintenance of software plus an in house person to develop and maintain monitoring scripts was not cheap.

They'll figure it out in time, but face it, we're beta testers. Irregardless, the vehicle just works whether you use the app or not. I can live with that.

But seriously, BTDTGTTS. I've designed ridiculously robust systems. And that is what a company like Toyota needs to do, if they want to do it right. They might be late to the telematics game, but they don't have to play like a middle school team.

But a "new guy" to the game, doesn't really know how much robustness they need until the get burned a few times. This is out of their wheelhouse.

Entune is down again since about 8 p.m. Pacific time, 04-11-18. I can get a current update on the Eco Dashboard, but the charge level indicator is not working.
