Featured Entune changing from Bing to "Destination Search" on August 20th

    Love it or hate it, most of us with 2012 and up Prius models have Toyota's Entune system, which has search powered by Bing. Until August 20th, that is. After then an update will hit Entune systems removing Bing as the search engine and replacing it with what I assume is an in-house Toyota search system, "Destination Search".

    Toyota is promising enhancements like sorting results by distance (my, how 2004 of them!), and providing automated suggestions while you type on your smart phone.

    Here's the email from Toyota about the change:

    Agreed. Except Apple Maps could use some polish. But it's still classier than Google Maps. Just not quite as reliable. (Though Google maps does goof on me sometimes)

    Ah, yes. That was the norm in the 3.1, 98 and 98SE days.

    My WinNT4.0sp6a, 2000, XPsp3, 7 and 8 OS machines (and winPhone 7 and 8.1) simply don't blue screen.

    Never had Vista.

    Just read the linked info.

    So in essence it takes some work on our end....

    And you need a Zip drive (2gig) a desktop or laptop computer, a smartphone, and have to download and register for a few new apps like it or not...

    A USB drive was/is required for all DIY HU firmware/software upgrades, a 2Gb drive being as ubiquitous as Chiclets or M&Ms.

    The fueling app/tab certainly did have sort by distance, within the app/tab.

    Can't speak for others, which I haven't used.

    The Bing app never has, and has almost always been worthless because of it.
