Just got a notification this morning, 09-29-17, of a manditory Entune Update. I went ahead and downloaded and installed it, and can't tell any difference in performance or features. Anybody out there in Prime Land or even Prius Ordinary Land have any info on this update. Thanks in advance!!

    .
Interesting, I just selected to update this post, and for first time, had a small window pop up, asking me if I wanted to edit the Post or edit the Title. I selected edit Post, and here I am.
Just an update that I did redo the Voice Command Training per Michael's (Toyota Corporate advisor) recommendation. Everything went smoothly. To be continued...

Thanks Mr. Dalcon; I'll keep my antennae up. We may have to contact Toyota/Entune to see if they have the answer.

    .

Mr. Salamander, do you have the Advanced? I use Entune mainly to check the charge level on my Advanced since I charge at home, multiple times a day . Pretty convenient.

No, mine is Premium. That feature would be a cool addition, but I don't miss Pandora and such. Beside, my phone is Windows phone without data connection. There is no Entune app for Windows phone, and even if I install the app onto my old Android phone, I just found out there is no use for Entune if there is no data connection via smart phone.

Large BUMMER for you!! I do use Pandora on long trips like tomorrow's trip to Bakersfield, about 3hrs.
I spoke to "Michael" at Toyota Entune support (through the main Corporate number) who said that this update is a stability, bug-fixing update which won't change the appearance, or features of Entune. He did recommend that I "retrain" my voice command feature. I'm listing this info here to help those who do use Entune.

    .
BTW, my phone is a Samsung S7 which works great with my Advanced.

I received the notice today but waiting until tomorrow to do the update. I am glad to hear that there are no problems. Possibly some iOS11 fixes not that I have noticed any problems.

I started up the car, today (09-29-17) and the notice just appeared prompting me to action. Told it, yes, do it, and then ok, do it now. It didn't take more than 2 or 3 minutes for the whole process.

Series of events for me this week ... first off i use an iPhone connected via USB port but use audio via Bluetooth as I not always plus the phone in while driving ...
    Sun: I updated to iOS11
Tue: started the car to go home and the Entire app on the phone pops up and says it needs to talk to the car, so I just let it sit for like 20 min with no other interaction.
Wed: for the very 1st time in the Prime when trying to call my wife on the way home the Bluetooth connection fails and it does not reconnect, had to turn the car off and on and everything works fine
Fri am: display in the car says: mandatory Entune update ... it downloads through your phone for all i know

I don't know if the event on Tue had any impact on the update ...

Same. I don't think it took even 2 minutes for me. Must have been a small patch (and like previous poster, I suspect some iOS 11 related thing). Not surprising - Apple already has issued a security update for 11 and every app on my phone has updated at least once in the past week. Well, except Entune... ;)

iOS 11.0.1 is now available. Perhaps that can help.

Yep. Also consider resetting network connections, deleting and reinstalling Entune, and forgetting and re-establishing the Bluetooth connection. Basically, wiping the slate clean as much as possible sometimes fixes problems. I've done complete resets of phones in the past just to get things working properly. It's a PITA to re-establish email accounts, reload all your apps, etc., but going back to factory settings sometimes clears out the bugs you can't get rid of otherwise.

So, it is over the air update on its own? Is it using Advance trim's built-in data connection to download the update, or do you have to have your phone with data connection? I wonder how lower trims are going to get notified.

Good question, Mr. Salamander, although there was no mention of phone involvement, i.e., "keep your phone on during update", or any such statement. I was just advised that Entune operation would be interrupted during update. My phone was, as I normally operate, turned on, so I can't be 100% sure phone was not involved for my Advanced, and it could be required for other trim levels.

Need a data connection via your phone (at least for Premium trim level, which is what I have). Otherwise, you have to wait until they publish the update at Toyota Downloads, save it to a flash drive, and update the car via the USB connection. Problem is, the downloads page has been broken for several weeks now (and still is - just checked). You either get an error page when you try to get to the file or it kicks you back to the vehicle selection screen.
