Thing is, though, you ended up "pointing it out" mostly to people who have been on here since before you joined.
Then perhaps said member with seniority should not have been surprised PC "has few reporters on the case" here...as it relates to said post.
"Said member" ain't the only one been around here longer than you. PriusChat has always been a car forum for people with pretty well-rounded interests.
So...you bid vacation about 5 hours before I do. I'm all for side bars in the right "sub-forum", but that doesn't mean I won't comment any different than I would in person when someone makes a goofy statement. It works both ways in here...as we all know.
Readers should be aware that Kate Calvin, NASA’s Chief Scientist and Senior Climate Advisor has been dismissed along with 23 others. For now, NASA webpages about her have not been scrubbed: Dr. Katherine Calvin - NASA Dr. Kate Calvin - NASA Science but her biogragraphy seems to have been: https://www.nasa.gov/feature/katherine-calvin-chief-scientist-and-senior-climate-advisor/ I have no doubt this scientist will continue to do great things, in different ways.
When do you last remember the bio being there? Wayback Machine has it as of August 2023: Katherine Calvin, Chief Scientist and Senior Climate Advisor | NASA but it seems already to have gone 404 in the first capture of 2024.
I only looked for her things after her dismissal. Seems odd though for a leader figure to have bio removed during happier times.
Renewable electricity status in US: A Decade of Growth for U.S. Solar and Wind | Climate Central Hydroelectric not featured here but I suppose they cover it elsewhere.
Has anyone else seen the new study out of AUS saying the earth may have already past the Paris Climate accord thing of 1.5 degree planetary temp rise benchmark. This study was done using a really slow growing sponge for the Caribbean to form a timeline dating back to 1700 and eclipsing the previous timeline dating back to 1800 or 1850 (it reads like they are not quite sure which date is the right one) for the old timeline. sheeeshh.
I've never fallen for the green deal scam....which has been renamed and repackaged (Global Cooling, Global Warming, Ozone Crisis, Climate Change) same names for the same scam...just a globalist plan to distribute money around and take away freedom and liberty from people. The ozone is fine, the polar ice caps (both sides) are fine, the polar bears are fine, and the temperatures are fine...it rains and it snows and there's hurricanes and there's forest fires just as there's been for millions of years. It's, still, cold in the winter and hot in the summer...don't need a college degree to figure that one out. To think some smoke coming out of my car's exhaust (with 300 miles of air above it) is, somehow, going to threaten life as we know it is a pretty huge pile of crap. (Funny how the biggest pushers of climate scam have no problems with their private jets spewing millions of pounds more of carbon as my little car is just fine.) And, now, the climate crazies are attacking Tesla dealerships? Just shows how much they REALLY car about the "existential climate crisis"
Ozone layer is doing better because we, the world, agreed to take action to fix it. Protests at Tesla stores isn't about the climate. But anyway, Fuel economy standards are going to be rolled back. The EPA is scrapping fuel economy regs, claiming it will bring back US jobs - Ars Technica
Checked to see if any of these proposed changes will affect diesel. There are shops that can tune for greater horsepower, torque, efficiency, & mileage after removing EGR, DPF & DEF tank. Not that I ever would, even if only because some future Administration could just put it all back. .
Ten of the 20 polar bear populations are well enough studied to predict population trends (see graphic at): Status | Polar Bears International
"the temperatures are fine" Since about 1970, global mean surface T has been increasing by about 0.2 oC per decade. Longer detailed records since 1850 contain no sequence like that. Longer longer records lack accuracy and cannot reveal if the most recent 5 decades are unique. Projections for coming 5 decades have been made, continue this upslope (depending on CO2 emissions in future). But they are unreliable because global ocean heat dynamics remain poorly understood. They are also called unreliable by those in service of continuing or expanding carbon combustion to CO2 for energy. They are also called unreliable by others whose motivations are not obvious. Above is quantitative; what T has been before, is now, and looking at future changes. Saying "temperatures are fine" moves into qualitative declaration, calling for definitions about when and where and what (T conditions) were very good for the human enterprise. That could mostly hit food production, and could be a great way to define fine! To my knowledge, no one is looking at what climate conditions gave highest agricultural production, by year, region, or crop. If a dabbler here had not said "fine" I would not have thought about it, so thanks. Where might that lead? Some settings will look great in high-T, anticipating-future climates. Some settings won't look great and call for different crops, or current ones with changed genomes -> physiology. == We seek Fine. Obviously we do! It can/might/could come to us better by rationally exploring resource supply for the Human Enterprise. I am sorry to say that declaring fine now is a zero contribution.
In my opinion PriusChat should never suppress posts on global warming as a scam. Such posts invigorate deeper examinations. To a lesser degree they expose 'bought or freely claimed' posters, whose own reveals stand for all to see.
One thing for sure is that whatever we are doing (we means us humans) is having an effect of the environment we are living in. Exactly what the projections of what this world will be like in a decade or two from now, when most reading this will still be around, is still Mostly, any bodies guess ! Unless there are strong feelings towards any specific groups findings / university grant level / gov lobby !
