A universe that collapsed (due to gravity) into a mass so dense it exploded.

Before that, the universe was expanding, from a big bang.

    And so on.

At least, that's what I think.

At any rate why assume its something we should worship today. In all likelihood its a physical process just like everything else.

To me, this simple explanation is more believable than an invisible omnipotent all-knowing being who created all of us, and in such a way as to leave no evidence of His existance. But that's just me.

    I just curious.
Can anyone think of an example of chaos becoming orderly,
without an outside force being applied?

Ex. Disorderly water molecule become orderly when frozen.
    Cold being the outside force.

Cold is the absence of force, not its presence. Cold is a less energetic state than whatever is warmer, right down to no energetic motion at all: absolute zero. So removing external influence on water molecules makes them more likely to bind into an ordered crytalline lattice, often into someting as highly ordered as a snowflake. It would require an outside force to make a snowflake form in a pot of boiling water.

And how is that relevant? And why would any force be more holy than other forces?

These silly questions are always from faithful christians ignorant of science.

Random atoms self organizing into molecules
    Soap, forming a bubble

There is just as strong an argument that god IS chaos: consider entropy.

Obviously miracles and such are pure fiction. Where the bible attempts to be historical is probably half fictional as well. The certainty of its authors and origins are in doubt too. One of Paul's letters is considered by experts to be a forgery.

Like Bart D. Ehrman frequently says: "There are more errors in the bible than there are words in the bible". The errors are discovered as older and older copies are found to differ from modern copies.

The biggest eye opener? The entire resurrection story was not in the bible until the 13th century.

    Cheers!

I used to lean that way too and then in the late 90's cosmologists found out that the universe's expansion is accelerating. Now, it's hard to suppose that the expansion of our universe is going to reverse into a contraction. But hey, maybe it will. Sorry for the late post.
