So I get the general idea of what etunes is.....it looks like it has some limited apps like Pandora. I assume it is going to need some sort of internet signal? Where is it going to get that from? Is the tunes car going to come with free cellular internet access to make these apps work? And how does my smart phone come into play? Unfortunately I am having trouble getting some of the videos to play on my tablet!

I would imagine bluetooth tethering or wifi tethering on your phone and Entune get its internet from your phone.

That what I was wondering. Unless one is tech say enough to jailbreak their iPhone or root their android phone, that is going to be an expensive proposition for an Entunes user. Cell phone companies don't let you ether for free.

Or....you put some sort of Entunes app on your phone and your phone does all the work. Then Entunes somehow uses Bluetooth to pull the processed data off the phone.

    Re: Entunes?

I suggest fixing the spelling of Entunes in the title of this thread.

    Yes, that's how it works:

"Getting started with Entune™ is easy: Register your Entune™ account and link your existing apps to Entune™, then download the Entune™ app from your favorite App Store, such as iTunes®, Android™ Market or Blackberry® Appworld™. Once the phone app is launched and the phone is paired and connected to the vehicle using Bluetooth® [3] wireless technology or a USB cable, Entune's™ apps are accessed using the vehicle’s controls or, for some services, voice recognition. Entune™ includes three years of complimentary access to apps and services (After three years, an access charge will apply; excludes Pandora®)."

    from: Welcome To Entune

Unfortunately, iPhone only works via USB. [sigh]

    Yes.

I have an iPhone 4, and I don't see the need for entunes, we need FEWER distractions while driving, not additional ones.

You don't have access to the advanced features. However, in the Advanced, some basic ones are available through XM.

It seems a bit obvious that the car and phone can talk to each other locally, but the car is not a telephone pole

I really enjoy pandora in the car. With this, I never need my phone, I control it all through the HU.

Does anyone know how to NOT display things like stocks and sports? I for one do not see the use of watching stock quotes while driving. I removed that from my Entunes account, but in the car it still shows up. The more useful Gas Prices app is at the end, so it must be scrolled to display it. If stocks and sports were not there, then Gas Prices would show up in front. Very annoying.
