That depends on how long people believe they need 5 minute refuel times.

Which will depend in part on how often people do need 5 minute refuel times. ;)

For those who can't charge an electric car at home or work, short recharge times are often a requirement for owning an electric vehicle.

Seems a lot of gassers are perfectly willing to wait 20-25 minutes - to get that quick 5 minute refuel.

That's more waiting to save maybe a buck or two on a tank. I remember when the local WaWa was new, and had people lining up at the pumps to save a cent per gallon over the empty station that was caddy corner to it.

In a related note, Tesla owners were willing to wait before getting their free 20 to 30 minute charge on holiday weekend than spend $80 on a 90 second battery swap.

So true !! And in a similar vein, in congested areas of San Diego, LA & the OC, there are WAY too many locals that will wait 20 minutes to get there free 15 minute supercharger top-off/refill versus spending their own 95ยข (night time rate) charging at home, which only requires a measly 10 seconds to plug & unplug. U gotta love people

it's not how fast people need to charge, it's how fast they 'think' they need to charge.

as far as long term and short term, those (terms) are undefinable.

    Bob's strategy:
    • gas line - pull up plugshare and find the nearest fast DC charger and silently drive away.
    • fast DC charger busy or broke - find a nearby L2 charger and silently drive away.
    • regional power failure - drive to gas station with working, emergency generator and gas.
    • no gas available - go home and use the lawn mower gas.
    • no lawn mower gas - go home and use the 16kW Genrac emergency generator power
    Bottom line, Bob has alternatives.

Bob forgot one thing, lots of ammo in case the neighbors decide his stuff is easily appropriated during severe outages. Ahhh - the many facets of resilience.

Neighbors on both sides know I volunteer a 'hot' extension cord during any extended outage. Not for defense, I do have one 'fire stick.'

Glad you posted a picture. My first thought was the Amazon TV streaming device.
