Went once out of curiousity, but probably was there too early, the place was pretty quiet. The girls seemed fine, but not like the crowded bar scenes in the movies with props and acrobatics and not drugged out either. The better girls probably showed up later. Cover charge was pretty steep. But one thing I noticed, the girls were very good at customer relations. They made the rounds on the floor, making eye contact and smiling, asking politely how I was doing and if I wanted a private dance, and just as politely going away when I declined. You don't get service like that at a regular bar!

And sorry ZC1, my wife already knows about it. I told her the next day I think (yes, she was out of town).

Another time I was in a car accident (pre-Prius), and a nice neighbor gave us a lift back to our place (yes, a stranger helped us!). Turns out he was the owner of a couple strip joints, and gave me a couple free passes, but I never used them. Still, I was impressed by his willingness to help us out, not really the stereotype of the sleazy, penny-pinching owner.

    Yeah, that's kinda neat, isn't it? :)

My family still likes to tell the story of when Grandad had his first heart attack. Visiting from back East for a couple of weeks, he ended up spending part of his vacation in hospital. After much hemming and hawing, it was revealed that three days earlier, the boys had taken him to a notorious strip joint downtown. He may well have been somewhere similar earlier in his life, I don't know, but certainly not for many, many years. His infamous remark part way through a performance was "Even the stage is rising." :pound:

A friend's wife once told me, "I don't care where he gets his apatite, as long as he comes home for dinner." :eyebrows:

I didn't know men could get too old to drool over women. You've shattered my stereotypes of male virility.

...oh....actually....I just saw that you answered with "no, but I want to check one out eventually" My preconceptions are safe for a little bit longer.

Been a few times. Bach party like so many others. When I was in the service I made 2 or 3 obligatory visits. Not my cuppa. Had some interesting chats with a few of the ladies. One was a grad student. Another was a student and an 88M (truck driver) in the AZ Nat'l Guard. Defo didn't fit the junky stereotype. Had a friend who was a stripper. She had a lot of issues and it didn't surprise me that she ended up in that "industry".

You probably aren't interested in my opinion of men who need to pay money in order to get their thrills.

    Carry on...

As I said,I have never been to one.
Therefore I am not going to the wrong clubs.
Some say I am cheap,I prefer frugal.
At any rate I am not going to spend money at a GM Club.
Not to be crude but I can get the real thing free.
In any stable relationship all things are possible.
As long as all party's are comfortable........

Maybe your opinion can be softened a little (yes, I'm assuming you have a strong negative opinion) by thinking about it differently:

We all pay for various kinds of entertainment. We pay to see a movie with lots of drama or action when we could, with a little work, have lots of drama and action without the expense.

We pay to eat ice cream in a pretty entertaining array of flavors. Nobody's eating ice cream for its nutritional value. We could make it ourselves for less money if we wanted to invest the time and labor.

And many, many men pay for various forms of "adult" entertainment. I don't think it's fair to compare it to a personal relationship, because it's not the same thing, and not entered into with the same goals. There's no pressure for the man to perform or behave in any way other than forking over some cash, and there's no question of what they'll get for their money, or when they'll get it.

Which is not to say there aren't other reasons to dislike strip clubs. I just don't think that's a particularly good one.

Since when is going to strip clubs an exclusively male activity? I'd never date a woman who was such a prude that she couldn't have fun going to a strip club with a group of men and women. Hell, anyone who's done this knows the women get more dances, spend more money, and are far more "touchy" than the men. And since a very large percentage of strippers are bi, and female customers react in a more predictable and safer way, the dancers are much more "grabby" with female patrons. And don't get me started on how much raunchier bachelorette parties are than bachelor parties. You women do things that would make a sailor blush. At least the fun women do.

And I would never date a man who had me attending a strip club with him as a prerequisite for dating him. Ick. Not my vision of a man I'd want to be with.

I also think that men have a very skewed perception of what they think women enjoy, and what they are doing because of low self-esteem and/or the intention of impressing someone. Ask yourself - do you ever see women (straight women) go into strip clubs alone? Probably not. Most likely they were asked to go by a man or a group and doesn't want to seem like a "prude" for not going. If a woman truly enjoys it (a straight woman) - why is she not there alone?

I'm 39 years old, I've was in a sorority, I've been married for 15 years. I've seen it ALL. Experienced it ALL. Been around the block a few times. I've also gotten to know myself and am mature enough to know what I enjoy and what I don't. I've also learned that men have their own view of things when it comes to women which is usually way off.

I've also learned that men who have to pay money to get their thrills have very little respect for women, could be they can't get it for free or have issues in their sex life, possibly have an addiction to sex/porn (can affect your life if you can't control it), have very low self-esteem (men like women who give attention), or are just so low on the evolutionary scale that they'll just stick it anywhere as long as they don't get caught.

My opinion. And don't get me wrong, if my husband were to frequent strip clubs (the term "gentlemen" is a far cry), I would think the above of him. If he were to lie to me about it, even worse. But I haven't had any reason to believe as such in 15 years of marriage, so it isn't an issue.

I have a feeling that strippers/hookers go home every night asking themselves how they got to this place. The fact that men think of them as objects and think all is hunky dory with them is extremely sad.

Sorry if my opinion offends anyone.
