    I just noticed that PriusChat has exceeded the 70,000 registered member mark. And, coincidentally, it comes almost exactly to the day that PriusChat was started by Danny 7 years ago.

    Congrats to Danny and the entire PriusChat community. We continue to grow and we continue to be a strong and active community for the discussion of Prius and alternative fuel vehicles.

    The front page of the forums says that all-said, we have created more then 84,000 threads and made more than 1,200,000 posts. There are 3,500 members considered "active".

    That's kinda cool, apparently I'm member# 12,733 which matches your chart. I wonder how the # of active members has trended?

    Back in the earlier days this had a slightly different feel of early adopters figuring out the vehicle and sharing discoveries and of course promoting the vehicle, fighting misinformation. I'm actually a bit surprised that the feel of a community has persisted all this time as the car has gone mainstream and our group has grown. Of course, FHOP hasn't changed, and now that we got the 2004-2009 model pretty well figured out, there's the 2010 and the upcoming 'big Prius' to figure out, so there's still plenty to talk about.

    Huh. I just peeked and of those 70,000, only 11% have 10 or more posts. That's a helluva lot of lurkers!

    To be fair and honest, some of those 70,000 were spammers and trolls. Also, some people have duplicate identities.

    If it's anything like a board I'm an admin on, I assume 80% of those were folks who registered, looked at the board once or twice, and never came back. The other 20% are half spammers and trolls and half duplicates.

    That is an exciting milestone!

    I still remember the days before PriusChat... back when filling the Prius with gas was cheap, at just 99 cents per gallon.

    Things sure have changed since then... especially when you step back and look at the competition. For example, the big GM forum only has 52,269 members.

    I remember those days. Back when "Wireless" is what we listened to Tommy Dorsey on. Ah, yes. The poodle skirts, the 5 1/2" floppy disks, seeing The Beatles on Ted Mack's Amateur Hour.

    Maybe I went about it incorrectly.

    I was in the Priuschat Admin area where members' usernames and account record numbers are displayed. The one I was looking at was in the high 60,000s so I decided to see if we had reached 70,000 yet. I typed in 70,000 and Dempster popped up. I just checked and that account is still awaiting email confirmation.

    So perhaps there's a discrepancy between record numbers and other membership numbers.

    The only way I really know is to go to your profile page, click "Statistics", hover over the link for "Find all posts by ___" and the number in the url is your userid number. Yours is 2754.

    If you click Danny's name (red) in his post and hover over "send PM to Danny" and look at the status bar for the URL, you will see that he's member #2.

    If he's number 2, who's member number 1? :eek:
