I've been wondering the same thing. A Toyota mechanic I talked to recently recommended 5,000 mile oil change intervals. Maybe the oil gets contaminated with gasoline over 10,000 miles and adds to wear, especially if not burned off by driving at highway speeds every once in a while. Maybe some use conventional oil that deteriorates even faster. Who knows how well owners follow even the 10,000 mile OCIs.

But the converter operates hot enough to combust most noxious byproducts of combustion, while the cooler does not, both by design.

I get my oil changes on my 2010 Prius IV done at the dealer..... will they do #2 for me if I give them the Motor Medic? Any chance?
My car is burning 1 quart every 5k miles or so.
