Exhaust pipe hangs really low, think my rear bumper is lower than front

    My prius is a 2007 and has 140k. I think the lower end is lower than the front. I have about 4 inches of clearance from the horizontal exhaust to the ground.

    Can you tell from the picture?

    You should check to make sure all your rubber hangers are still in place and not damaged.

    Assuming you don't have a floor jack and safety stands, you could just put some 2x pieces up against that curb, and back the back end up onto it, have a better look.

    Your exhaust should not be hanging that low. Most likely your hanging clips may have come off from hitting something.

    Sorry missed that exhaust part I was just looking at the stance which is fine. The exhaust has been damaged.

    It is not obvious that the exhaust system has a problem. The point circled in the photo is where the exhaust pipe bends to the right prior to joining the muffler.

    As previously suggested the OP needs to get under the car to see whether there are any missing exhaust hangers. If there are no unusual noises and no hangers are missing then don't worry.

    My 05 Prius also had the exhaust hanging low like yours. I took it to the local shop and they could not find a problem. I paid them 45$ to re-rout the pipe and fixed the problem. Gained 2 inch in clearance.

    That's awesome! Thanks for the tip. I may do this since I'm sick of my car scraping going up a steep driveway.

    I wonder if there is any negative to doing this? My car is way past warranty so that isn't an issue.
