Exhaust Question: Is a purge valve and vent control valve same thing? (Possibly saving $170)

Exhaust shop said I need a "vent control valve" which he said was $190 at dealership.

Is this the same thing as a "VACUUM PURGE EGR SWITCH VALVE"??? I am hunting around on amazon/ebay/partsgeek/etc and names and part numbers are switching like crazy...

Specifically, this one here is $20: IM701051 2004-2009 TOYOTA PRIUS VACUUM PURGE EGR SWITCH VALVE 90910-12259 OEM | eBay

Parts geek has one for $101: 2004-2009 Toyota Prius Purge Valve - Air Intake - Standard Motor Products 04-09 Prius Purge Valve - 18054-05518587 - PartsGeek

Are these items what the exhaust shop is referring to as the vent control valve???

Loud exhaust I need exhaust manifold and what he called "vent control valve"....I started to over-explain everything and include pics but then deleted a longer and unnecessary post as it would distract from my main concern:

    The links I posted:
    1) IM701051 2004-2009 TOYOTA PRIUS VACUUM PURGE EGR SWITCH VALVE 90910-12259 OEM

    2) 2004-2009 Toyota Prius Purge Valve - Air Intake - Standard Motor Products 04-09 Prius Purge Valve - 18054-05518587 - PartsGeek

Are these things "vent control valves"?

(I also purchased a used manifold for $45...it's clean as seen in pics that I forgot were attached)...

If link 1 is a vent control valve I will save a fortune on parts.

So far, I have decided that since I am unsure on the "vent control valve", and he quoted me labor of $150 for exhaust manifold and an additional $75 for the "vent control valve"....I'll just start with exhaust manifold.

That should get rid of the loud exhaust noise...Going to assume the valve is related to CEL which isn't the end of world.

If he says it is this thing in the back of the motor then I'll hold off, looks like easy part to replace:

    Is this a known mechanic?

Were any warning lights displayed on the dash or retrieved with a code reader/mini vci?

Is your manifold cracked or just leaking from a bad gasket?

Those linked parts could be "vent control valves" that may or may not fit a Prius, but I have no idea what they would have to do with the "loud exhaust" you are hearing- and doubt it would fix such.

Yes, and he's reasonable...I'm sure the Toyota dealership would want around $1000 to replace manifold parts/labor....He's charging me $150 and I'm bringing him a $45 part used.

I pulled a rear right ABS sensor which he is going to replace wheel bearing (with sensor) for $75 labor.

On the dash it has CEL (I think, it's been a little while), and definitely BRAKE/ABS/VSC which I'm hoping are all related to the rear right sensor...I'll find out soon as by Monday wheel bearing will be replaced.

It's the rustiest Prius I've ever seen with holes in the rocker panels...The exhaust is also the loudest I've ever heard. I previously had a different prius that needed donut gasket, and it was loud, but not this loud....He is an exhaust shop so I'd like to think his diagnosis is spot on. Will find out next week.

My guess is it is related to a code he pulled I'll have to double check...But you're right, the two are unrelated and the main concern is loud exhaust.

Seen manifolds listed locally on car-part for around $50 but I'm sure they are covered in rust and nasty looking...

This one looked really good...probably better than most on the road (or they are just phenomenal at cleaning):
