Extended MPG 2016 Liftback ???

    How long before some tech-head figures out how to put the 8.8kwh prime battery into the lift-back. Being Toyota I'm sure the packaging is quite similar. I also realise the one way clutch is missing and an external charger maybe required but just imagine how many blended miles you could get...and...WITH 5 SEATS.

    With all the inexpensive used plug in hybrids out now the demand to modify a non plugin prius has greatly dimished.

    For example, a used Ford c-max energy with Prius Prime ev distance, five seats and limited cargo capacity can be found for around $10,000 here in tropical Western NY.

    no one ever did it with the pip, so, unlikely to try it with the prime. those days seem to be over. maybe someone will build an fcev in their garage.

    Not long as long as the 3rd party installers are willing to invest in creating a PHEV option for Gen 4 owners. It might be a smaller battery, however. (to keep a flush rear floor for those cars without a spare tire, rather than reducing cargo space).
