    Oh, OK, presumably you're saying that the carbon-fiber sheet material (if it can be called that) from which it's made is very thick, not commenting upon the thickness of the door itself.

    Every time you open it, it swings right past your head. You have too notice about how thick that door is.
    Sorta like modern refrigerator doors nowadays.

    most ev drivers are serious moochers. toyota must have recognized this. if you go on charge point, they show every 120v outlet available. legal or not.

    But of course besides mooching there could be situations like using a charge station. Or charging at work, although I suppose some would purchase a second cable for that. But then where do you store the second cable, I guess in the filing cabinet at your desk? Maybe the hatch storage would be more convenient to store the work charge cable. Of course you could always just keep it in a small bag, but at least there is a nice place to store it out of the way if needed.

    The EVSE and cable that comes with a plug in car is a portable one. So the manufacturer provides a place for it, which happens to also be where the tonneau can be stored on the Prime..

    It stores the tonneau cover (if you have the Advanced, the roller one can fit under there) as well as the charging cable.

    Here, there are EV parking spots with 120V outlets so you have to use your own cable.

    It's probably fair to say that that slot can be used for either the tonneau cover, the charger cable, or whatever else you might find useful. I noticed that, in one of Optimus Prime's videos, he said he puts water bottles there. I'll probably put my first-aid and other emergency stuff (including water) there.

    Personally, I'm not so sure how useful it would be for carrying the 110V charger around. That charger charges so slowly that it seems useful mostly (perhaps "only") for overnight charging. (Charging overnight slowly isn't necessarily a bad thing.) I can't really see myself using the 110V cable in any sort of emergency situation, say, nor draping it over from a motel wall outlet to my car, perhaps risking people tripping on it, etc. More likely, I'd strictly use it at home, and, on a trip, if I can't find a dedicated charger at or close to my hotel, I'd just (sigh...) use gas.

    Actually, I've already installed a level-2 charger at home (even though my P.Prime hasn't arrived yet!), so I probably won't use the 110V charger much at home either. I did so because I concluded that I don't have any 110V outlets in the garage vicinity that have the nominally-required 15A unused. Also, that'll let me top off quickly after work for evening errands, etc.

    Going back to the original question...the extra length in the back has meant I have had to readjust how I park in a parking space. My last car was a gen 2, which I had for nine years. For the first month or so with the Prime, I would pull into a space at work and if there was not a car in front of me, I'd pull all the way through (I hate backing out), and 2 out of 3 times I would have to get back in the car after I parked and pull up further because the back end was in the space behind me.

    That, as opposed to backing into the parking space?

    In my current Gen-2, I'm mostly used to backing into my garage now, so that, when my P.Prime finally arrives, I'll be able to quickly habitually plug it in. I'm not comfortable with backing in next to other cars yet though.

    For charging at work, if I can't use the back-in park assistance feature, I'll probably mostly back into charger spots that have a car on at most one side.

    However, the fact that my P.Prime will have the ultrasonic clearance sensors might help. Perhaps eventually I'll get comfortable enough with it to back in myself between two cars!

    Which trim level? I've think I recall that the Advanced model's Intelligent Clearance Sensors make that hard to do. The back-up camera presumably would help too.
