Cost savings for the 89S is a buck or so per tire.

    I have the compact spare.

But what does that have to do with the four main tires, and the inflation pressure?

    I need a Hot-Fudge Sundae.

The compact spare weighs less than the full size tyre, hence that is why I believe your tyres pressures are higher to compensate.

32 PSI seems too low for the 15" tire.

    But what do I know?

Not a whole lot. Toyota won't hire me.

    Doesn't explain 4psi difference

Times 4 tires per vehicle, times about annual vehicle sales. It mounts up.

It seems your car would need higher tire pressure, because you have the full-size heavy spare and thus more weight?

I need a nice woman to share a pizza with me. :D

Yes but, it's seems a little nuts, all this fine tuning over a few pounds variation.

    I didn't know any Prius had a full-size spare.

Not in the U.S. We get the compact donut. Why would Toyota put a heavy full-size wheel & tire in a car like a Prius?

Since customers like me prefer a full size spare (I have a "compact" spare :( ).

15" or 17"? At how many miles on your tires?

BTW/ I have yet to experience center tire wear on a Prius or Honda but that is just me and nobody else. Seems the MIJ/OEMs on Previous years stayed flat on the road at 42 PSI and 51 PSI. Too early to tell on my two 2106 Touring's with 6K and 4K each.

Sorry, I was mistaken. I knew I had a spare tyre, but I'd assumed it was a full size as that's what my manual refers to when talking about tyre pressures (cars with full size spare, or those without). After viewing your reply, I checked my car, and I have a compact spare tyre, just like you guys :)

I need to go look at the tires on my Gen4 two so I can say that they are Toyo for sure.....but wow. The cabin noise in this car is MINIMAL compared to my 2009 Camry. I seriously had to semi-yell to be heard on the freeway in that car. I'm sure there is a quieter car, but for $25K?? Really people??

Anyone with a new car with spare, you owe it to yourself to pull it out and check the pressure. When we got ours, Pre-Delivery Inspection not withstanding, the spare was at 40 psi. :(

Also, if you're ambitious: putting it on, for practice.
