Here what was on the inside of my fan after 130k pet free miles (or so it was claimed pet free). Make yourself useful and clean it out.

Was it hard to DIY? What instructs did you follow?
Looks like a gray dog but lets see what mine looks like - certified pet free by me.
You could do DNA testing, but the important thing is you got it out.

never ever do lab testing on the inside your car, they do it quite a bit on British Top Gear and the results are never good.

Is this from the fan that directs cooling air to the traction battery? Yikes!

What's the procedure for accessing it to check and/or clean?

Thanks for posting that link to the how to. I honestly didn't use a tutorial, I simply got a little overzealous during my 12v battery replacement. Most of it is just removing interior pieces that simply snap in and out, but you will need a socket for a few areas like the flooring hold downs and the fan assembly itself.
If anybody runs into an issue just shoot me a PM and Ill try to help. Personally I think this is one of the best things you can do to promote battery longevity, and summer is just around the corner.
